I looked forever to find "Funky Town" and couldn't find it for my phone.

I finally settled on R.E.M.'s "Stand".

I actually hate music as ringtones.

I used to have Nightwish's "Feel for you" bass intro as a ringtone.

Now it's the same beep/chirp that the cell phones have in the CBS series "The Unit".
I find it easy to recognize even with headphones on (and blaring at full volume), yet relatively discreet.

xkcd said it best...

Although I have occasionally wavered, for a while I had a recording of my dog barking, and later I had my own voice saying "Hey Druid, your phone's ringing".

I could be tempted again, if anyone came up with a good Dalek voice saying "ANSWER YOUR PHONE OR YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!

Currently it is Fidelity by Regina Spektor. Prior to that it was the main theme from Superman (1978).

Haha...so on my personal phone, I strictly keep it on silent/vibrate. My work phone...is a Nextel. [Razz] I keep that on default chirp/ring. (But...it's a business tool - I do not go chirping people willy-nilly about nonsense.)

Bad Moon Rising - CCR (for anyone who is not Mrs Tweety)

You Might Think - The Cars (for Mrs Tweety)

I've been considering doing just the standard ring/beep/chirp thing, but the one's that came with my Moto RAZR are fairly annoying. There's something just not quite right about them. Maybe because they're digital copies of a good ol' fashioned bell they sound "off".

Eh, maybe when I'm no longer lazy I'll make my phone sound like a phone.

Soupy George by seven seconds of love.

I used to have the standard ringing sound, but so did other people around me. I got sick of rushing to my phone to find it was someone elses ringing.

I only have a couple of songs on mine.

God's away on business and Hoist that rag by Tom waits.

And Kodo from the Yoshida Brothers.

But I ran into the same problem that Tweety did. All the ring tomes on my current phones sounded like bad fakes of real ringers. Anyway, something about being in Mormonland and having gravely Tom Waits going off in the supermarket line is satisfying.

Heh, I'm a huge fan of metal music, so I've got Slipknot playing as my ring tone. There's just something about getting really strange looks when my phone goes off that always puts a smile on my face. FWIW, the song is "Before I Forget".

Now its a standard ring tone ( but not THE standard ring tone that all phone here come with so that I have a better chance of knowing if the ringing cell i hear is mine or someone elses in the room.)

Heh,

Slipknot.

Long time ago, in a universe in Duh Moyne, my friend Mike has this studio.

He says I got this band I been recording you gotta hear 'em.

Yeah? I says. I trust you Mike, you pay for my lap dances at Beach Girls. And like you introduce me to Cinnamon and her real name is Rhonda, and Tiara's real name is Darla. And Cherry -- who is kinda sick and I really like that -- her real name is Alice.

And Mike tells me I can come to hear a session, but I'm busy, but he says then maybe I can go to Hairy Mary's that night to hear the band and Cherry, who's real name is Alice, will be there, too, and I gotta like that 'cause Alice is kinda sick.

So I go to Hairy Mary's and as soon as Mike gets me past the door there is kinda sick Alice there and she sticks her tongue with the metal bar on the tip of it down my throat, which is cool 'cause I kinda like her. And the band is there and I see this guy all wrapped in Saran wrap in the band, and the band is good.

Alice says they are good and I tell her, "Yeah they are really good", not just because Alice thinks so, but because they are. But I don't think she hears me because the music is very loud and Hairy Mary's is really small. But Alice doesn't care, she just sticks her tongue with the bar through it down my throat again.

So we like listen to the band and we don't dance or mosh or move 'cause it's too crowded, but that is OK. We drink Jack because they don't have Booker's, which I like even more than Alice. And the night is good and the ears ring, and it gets late and Mike says we should go see the band after the show because some record deal is going down soon and I should meet 'em because how many times you get to party with strippers and rock bands?

Mike has a point.

So there is the band and the strippers and the other girls, and the guy with the Saran wrap doesn't have that on any more and he doesn't look like a rock star, he just looks like a regular guy. But I don't care. I care about Alice, because she is kinda sick and because I wanna know if that bar through her tongue can go any more places other than my throat. Alice sticks the bar and tongue down my throat and asks "Wouldn't you like to know?"

And you know, I would. And all I can say is Alice is really sick, but really fun.

A couple of weeks later my son comes to town, and I know the band is playing, and I say to my kid, "Hey, I know you like metal and punk and all, so you gotta hear this band Slipknot because it's gonna be big and they are going to sign a big record deal, and because Alice with the metal bar in her tongue might be there with her friends.

My son says, "No." And his girlfriend says, "Why should he go listen to his Dad's music? Like you know?"

That's a bummer. 'Cause like my Dad's music is like Lawrence Welk and my son's Dad's music is Slipknot. And if my kid ever has kids, I don't know what his music will be to them.

Anyway a couple of week's later I go to Mike's place and he is recording some session with the Slipknot drummer and Marilyn Manson. And Mike asks, "You wanna copy of the session?" And I tell him, "Yeah, I'll give it to my kid."

So like my kid has the session with Marilyn Manson and Slipknot's bass player and when his friends come over to his house and ask him about it he says, "It's my Dad's Music."

So like Deathweaver, you got somebody's old man's music on your ring tone. And that is why people freak out, because they think you hang with geezers from Duh Moyne, Iowa.

Dude. Like that is really sad like maggots.

Truth.

fs & angry,

Thank you very much. I am flattered. And yes, that riff was beat influenced.

No, I do not have a blog, although lately, for many reasons I have been considering one. You two just gave me two more reasons.

It may take a bit, and I will keep you posted, fs. I promise.
