well i was sceptical that prayers are actually heard...but wht happened today really changed my thinking!!!

i am from that tribe of the world which believes sleeping 15 mins extra is better than all joys in this world.

i hav to reach my workplace at 9.00 am sharp... i wakeup around 8.00 am get ready by 8.30 and then ride on my bike to punch the card at 9.00 am...many times bcos of traffic i reach 9.05 or maybe 9.10..and i hav to hear a lecture from my boss on punctuality...he has given me a strict warning now that if i step in office after 9.00 i will be sent back home...

so today i woke up at 7.45 am....and thought that i can sleep for more 10 mins...and dozed off after pressing the snooze button of my alarm clock...

when i woke up the clock was showing 9.10...i was shocked... i jumped off my bed....thought..."i wont reach ofice before 10.00am.... the works manager will definitely send me back...it is gonna be very embarrassing..." then suddenly i prayed to God..."God u can do wonders... can u do something now please... im in deep trouble".....

my prayer was not over and i heard my alarm clock buzzing i woke up....it was showing 7.30 am...i was actually dreaming of being late.....or did god actually helped me!!!!!!!

comments are welcome.....

You were dreaming of being late. Happens to me all the time. My other favorite is I'll get up, get dressed, walk out the door, and suddenly I'm awake in my bed and my alarm's going off. D'oh!

Why'd you read the thread then? It's not as if the title didn't give plenty of warning.

Yes but something has to be done. You don't see me puting flyers on wind shields and jumping out at people on the street.

People for some reson want to believe this stuff. and for some odd reson thinks every one should think the same way they do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "something has to be done" sounds like you want to do some proselytizing of your own. [Wink]

Lets be realistic here: lets say there is a god up there in heaven or valhalla or a days' inn or whatever, you think he'd be wasting his time granting the wishes of someone who can't climb their ass out of bed in time for work?

Which god did you pray to in your dream? I bet it wasn't Kali, otherwise you would've probably dreamed of a six-handed chick repeatedly whacking you on the head with a two-by-four [Smile]

fazayal________________________Way back in my youth I was dreaming one morning, that the fire alarm at the school was going off and of course we were all exiting the school, except the volume of the alarm was not getting any softer, I was then awoken by my mother shouting at me to get up and shut of that (@*[email protected]) alarm.

Amen.

Er, for those of you who find "Amen" to be too religiously oriented, let me rephrase.

I wholeheartedly agree! [Razz]

You were dreaming. Everytime I am nervous about something important that will be the next day, especially early in the morning, I have terrible dreams about being late, or missing the occasion alltogether.
Abotu the praying:
I was raised in a Pentecost church. There were too many rules and now I hadly attend church, and do not imcorporate Pentecost in my life at all. (Unless you count having long hair because I like it) I do, however, pray all the time. When I was little ma would say that "Now I lay me down to sleep" prayer, and it is something that I still do. When I feel uncomfortable I will ask for protection. Praying usually works out for me, but I parayed for my dog my other night, and ...well..... [weep]
Anyways, I can't help but wonder if praying is really due to God, or universal forces. This is an internal conflict with me because if I am thinking about something I usually get it or it happens.

I'm not sure if this was the type of thread that Mac D was complaining about when it started, as is said in this thread's subject, it is about GOD and PRAYERS. If you DON'T want to read it, you don't have to, this person didn't put a flyer in your face.

Instead of complaining about how this is a type of thread which it is not, you turned it INTO THE TYPE OF THE THREAD OF WHICH YOU COMPLAIN. </caps_lock>

Perhaps you like that type of thread more than you think.

Looks to me more like you're being more like the type of person you're complaining about that you think as well.

You're shoving down his/her throat the fact that you don't like having things shoved down your throat.

Lighten up. Or die. Which ever one so happens to come first.

(just to clarify, I'm not wishing death on anyone, thank you.)

Additional rambling:

If you know much about any sort of religion, to believe in the religion is to assume the religion's associated beliefs are the truth either in whole or partially, by its very inheritance. By saying that they shouldn't believe in their religion you are denying your very own right to believe otherwise. So, really, in the end, you're losing an arguement... with your self.

Does it really hurt your feelings that badly to see something as innocent as someone having some HOPE in their life? Some hope that maybe they've got something waiting for them on the other side. Some hope that there is something waiting on the other side for even you, the heathen, perhaps?

I'm not trying to say YOU should believe it, but I'm not saying THEY should not believe it. Even if you don't want them to.

Everybody has their "thing." Some people it's religion. Some people it's scheisse porn. But regardless of what they, or you, find as their "thing" there is a similarity. You both have a "thing."

In sex education they teach you that you have a 'thing' and the other people have a different 'thing' and despite the fact that you have different 'things' for things to work out, you have to put that aside and accept their 'thing' because otherwise, you won't get laid. And to add to that, criticizing religion on the internet won't get you laid either.

(May it be duly noted that I am an athiest and any views or opinions reflected in the above post are based on COMMON SENSE.)

If only my data looked as pretty in reality as it did in my dream last night...

My other favorite is when my alarm incorporates itself into my dreams. I've lost track of haow many times I dreamed I was goig crazy because there was a buzzing sound I could not track down or turn off. Then I wake up and realize my alarm has been going off for a good ten minutes.

Maybe it's time to get a new alarm.

Well, I don't like dreaming I'm going crazy, so eventually I get upset enough to wake up.

I think I once slept through a full hour of my alarm going off in college once. How my suitemates handled that is anyone's guess.

1) What does God pray about?

2) What does God think when He oversleeps, only to wake and find out it was a dream and He's really on time?

Hmm...I couldn't possibly imagine that. [Razz]

Ironically enough, this seems to be a trait I've picked up over time. I now use 2 alarm clocks (both set to the atomic clock in Boulder), set to go off over the course of nearly an hour. I kind of wake up, hit the snooze, rest until another goes off...hit the snooze...it's how I gradually start my day.
