I just love that Christmassy feeling, which is unfortuantely becoming ever weaker as the years pass. Maybe I am finally growing up, or its because of the vast commercialism that I'm increasingly aware of?

Workplaces seem a little more relaxed this time of year (thought of pending time off), but stores are so insane I can't go near them.

But I'm really happy when the Christmas "Holiday" whatever kind of music it is stops on December 26th.

Unless, of course, if it's a John Waters Christmas:

I used to go out into the snowy woods with my buddies and a couple of handles of whiskey, start a bonfire, and kebab some steak tips to celebrate Jøl.

Now, I just like being smug and not going Christmas shopping.

Honestly, my favorite part is probably buying stuff for myself when the overstocked items go on clearance after the 25th

Ain't that the truth. I always find that xmas brings with the joy of "what's in it for me?" I like to buy prezzies for other people - realise that I don't actually like them - and then keep them for myself. You don't feel too guilty, 'cos you weren't directly wasting money on yerself - and you get loads of shit! Result.

Living, I despise what melancholy fate
has brought us wretches in these evil years.
Long before my birth time smiled and may again,
for once there was, and yet will be, more joyful days.
But in this middle age time's dregs
sweep around us, and we beneath a heavy
load of vice. Genius, virtue, glory now
have gone, leaving chance and sloth to rule.
Shameful vision this! We must awake or die!

I like Christmas Day. The stressful part of the holidays are over, and the family can just enjoy being together. I also enjoy seeing the gifts I gave opened.

What are my favourite parts? hmmmm. I love putting up my tree and leave it up a long time as I find it really relaxing to look at. Probably not this year as I am juggling a tree and a two year old.

I have a favourite part that is yet to come. I really want to teach D-M all my family's cheesey family traditions.

Spiritually I like going to midnight Mass. I find it very uplifting.
