I used to be a pure metal head (Think Nightwish, After Forever, Blind Guardian, Symphony X, AC/DC) but since then I have extended towards more softer tunes (good ole Apologetix, DAD, Beatles). I've also got a collection of songs my corridor mates at uni have passed on to me, so I have some Killswitch Engage, Gorrilaz and Less Than Jake.

In my "best rated" list at work are:

Emma Shapplin, Anggun*, an extract from Delibe's "Lakme", Bob Walsh**, a few tunes from the Cirque du soleil, Eurithmics, Marie Carmen*, Lara Fabian*, The Nylons, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, France Gall*, Laura Pausini***, Jacques Michel*, Holly Cole Trio, Jon and Vangelis, Stephen Barry Band**, Emilia, Edith Butler*, extracts from the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris", Pat the White**, Sarah Brightman, Mecano****, Jorane, music from Saint-Saëns and Vivaldi, Blues Brothers, John Lee Hooker, Pierre Bertrand*, Vilain Pingouin*, Dan Bigras*, Era, Coolio, Yoko Kanno and then a few more. And there are those from the CDs I didn't rip on my work computer (Oi Va Voi, Vangelis, some movies' music, Aretha Franklin, etc.)

* Sing in French (mostly in French for Butler)
** Quebec bluesmen
*** Italian, has CDs in Italian, English and Spanish
**** Spanish group

Do I'd say my styles are mostly international pop, soft rock, blues and classics.

No, she didn't know why he was so insistent about the name until after the birth certificate was signed.

She's a conservative Republican. [Roll Eyes] How they're still married is beyond me.

There's a lot of Amrikan acts that aren't particularly well known in Amrika, but have a following here, that are quite good: Electric Six, Scissor Sisters, Yeah Yeah Yeahs... plus many more.

Skylie - I expect you could help me with this list. [Smile]

Just listening to David Bowie's "Low" right now. Strange album: the first half is full of classic tunes "Breaking Glass", "Sound and Vision", etc. The second half is just wierd avant garde art-music - a bit too experimental to be listen-to-able. Anyone here like the weird shit?

Oh - and Niniel - 'nuff repsec on the Cure, there - can't fault anyone who likes them - that denotes taste, that does. [Wink]

I like to listen to Tim Story, he is a nice mix of ambient and classiical, which makes for very beautiful music [Smile]

As for less obscure names, I usually switch between Franz Ferdinand, The Notwist, Interpol, and The Shins, depending on my mood. Iron & Wine rears its sleepy head once in a while.

Hour-long trance livesets make for very good driving music because you aren't skipping over tracks you don't like. Armin van Buuren and Ferry Cortsen have produced some excellent livesets.
