I was recently contacted by a fembot who tried to get me to go to her lair so she could collect my credit card number (chat log).

I know this sort of thing has been on IRC for a while, but it's kind of a new virus to Yahoo! IM or AIM...

I think it's kind of neat, and would have gotten a bigger kick out of it if the bot was selling something rotten and commerical [Smile] (Fembots convincing you to buy Coke/Pepsi, or Vote Bush)

Has this happened to anyone else?

That's kind of funny. I didn't know that sort of thing happened. Man I live under a rock.

I've written ignore rules in my IRC client that ignore any NEW message that is simply, "hi" or "asl" or contains the word "sex". Most of my friends on IRC greet me with "HEY FUCKER!" or "my linux box isn't working right..."

I use IRC to make fun of people every now and then, and it's a quick medium I can use to talk to RL friends of mine back home.

Now Im gonna go looking for these fembots. That sounds FUN!

Chatbots have been flooding yahoo games chat rooms for a long time now. What kind of real girl would go posting links to pictures of themselves in a room full of people who are there to play chess?

This reminds me of something from along time ago when I was still on AO hell. (I love my cable modem) I got a message from somebody about going to some "Adult" site. And for once they didn't block me (something they usually did). And I actually started talking to them and it was a guy pretending to be a girl to sell this web site. He told me all about how he really hated his job. I kind of felt sorry for him.

There's nothing wrong with me, This is how I'm supposed to be.
