Hello,

Anyone seen/planning to see the film Gravity? it was just released in most of the world, and I think it's pretty amazing - especially suited to the sciencey people here. Here's a clip:

It's extra-special to me because I spent two years helping out with its visual effects. Annoyingly it comes out a month late in the UK, so I have to wait. But if you get the chance I think you should watch it.

Oh cool! What kind of thing did you do? No spoilers!

Nitro and I will almost certainly go see it.

Although I did have issues with Sandra screaming "What do I do what do i do!" in one preview... sheesh, isn't she a trained astronaut? Maybe she isn't, I haven't seen it yet. [Big Grin]

I don't think it's any sort of real spoiler, so I'm not going to bother with a real warning...

Sandra Bullock's character is a medical engineer on her first space flight.

We finally saw it!

A great romp, Nitrozac and I enjoyed it.
(sure there's a few science flubs, but hey, it's a movie)

Awesome job on the zero G.
Heh, that girl sure is clumsy! [Big Grin]

Nice work maximile! Can you say what you worked on? Will you be picking up the Oscar for special effects? [Applause]

I'll just leave this here

If you watch 'The History Of NASA' backwards, it's about a space agency that has no manned spaceflight capability, then does low-orbit flights, then lands on the Moon.

Thanks! I was mainly writing software to keep track of all the animation data (of which there was a lot, as you can imagine.)

It finally got released over here, so I went to see it with my parents over the weekend. It was good!
