Last weekend my wife & I went to an amazing concert! We saw The Church with Rob Dickinson (lead singer from Catherine Wheel ).

While in line waiting to get into the venue Steve Kilbey, lead singer of The Church came out to the crowd yelling "does anyone have any Fu***ng marijuana?", it was quite humorous, someone must had because he thanked them during the show.

Once we got into the club one of the employees escorted my wife (who's in a wheelchair) and I to the front of the club with a perfect spot at the edge of the stage! We always have to worry about venues and her being able to see so this was just perfect!

Rob Dickinson opened the show and wow can he sing & play, it was just him, an acoustic guitar (with some pedal effects now and then) and a harmonica. He played many songs off his new solo album along with some Catherine Wheel favorites. Next The Church took the stage and did not disappoint! They are back with the original lineup and played songs from a wide variety of their albums. They played all acoustic guitars along with an electric bass and mandolin. During their 4 encores Rob Dickinson joined them and played guitar. If they are coming to your town this is a MUST SEE CONCERT!

They also allowed non-flash photography during the concert, you can see the photos I took here . Overall they came ok, but the lighting was poor and I had to shoot at 1600 ISO at 1/50 sec exposure. The girl playing guitar in the photos is one of their roadies, she played during 1 song and was quite good.

After the show we were in the lobby and Rob Dickinson came up there to chat with people, I brought the CD insert from his new CD and asked if he did autographs, he gladly made it out to my wife & and I and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He noticed we had the CD insert for the new Church CD and asked if we'd like to have them sign it for us. Of course we said yes and instead of him taking to them he said" follow me" and took us backstage to meet them. Steve Kilbey & Marty Wilson-Piper came over and signed it and chatted with us for awhile (we did not get autographs from the other members as they were in the back with other fans). We also forgot to get the camera back out and get pics with them, oh well. Rob and The Church were all down to earth and very pleasant to chat with.
