It sounds like a National Lampoon plot. Discarded ex-boyfriend decides to win back girl's affection by rescuing her from... wait for it... a Dalek.

Ohh nice, he should of done what the rest of us do: Come swinging in from a tall skyscraper, wearing a loin cloth, and catching the girl in our arms as she crosses the street because the stopped car was about to run her over.
