So, I will call this activity "bowling" as to not offend anyone here. I was sitting here thinking about the fact that I have not been "bowling" in seven months. OMG! I have hit a dry spell. I thought my thirties were supposed to be my prime, well, so far no luck. And from what I hear it only gets worse from here. Blah. [Frown]

If guys like me can... bowl all the time, you can too. Get out, meet some people. Female bowlers tend to have a much easier time... bowling.

Take it from someone who is 43 and hasn't been 'bowling' for 11
years now.

You're doomed...

DNM-- I had a train related question for him, yeah that's it:) But... Anyway, I do get out with the girls, and I have a decent social life, but I am over the club and bar scene you see, so, not many options. The gym, they are all meatheads, at school they are all 18, at work they are all women, that doesn't leave me much to choose from.

Seeing as they tore down all the bowling alleys. Here, there is no bowling to be had.

All joking asside, a good round of bowling would do me some good... working on that. Been 4+ years.

They put a parking lot on a piece of land
When the supermarket used to stand.
Before that they put up a bowling alley
On the site that used to be the local palais.

Life is a bit like that these days, social interaction with neighbors seems confined to a quick hello on passing and everyone lives such tight lives, work, gym, eat, sleep, work; I had a torrid time when I worked for a real small software consultancy, all guys at the office and I was living in a secluded apartment on the edge of a village. Obviously I wasn't doing much bowling then either. 'there be dragons' if you go searching for someone to bowl with... I'll stop the pretense now, what's the point in cuddling into someone you don't know or don't even really like? ultimately it's just going to make you feel worse about yourself. Take a little time to have time when you can be affectionate with yourself (and not in a rude way, although that's ok too!), feel good about yourself and that will radiate around you, it won't fix everything but folks are more likely to say hello if you're wearing a smile.

I don't have enough experience, but I'm pretty sure that bowling is not the most important sport. You should try other sports, as long as you feel good with yourself it's OK.

Maybe it's a figment of my imagination, but I thought there were pics awhile ago, and they weren't terrifying? (If that isn't flattery, I don't know what is! [Razz] )

/me thinks of the bowling alley near home...that's shuttered and run down - had some fun doing stupid driving stuff in the parking lot. I generally stay away from those parts, and I'm not talking about any analogies...just pure bowling. Mind you, I have pwn3d friends at Wii bowling. [Razz] I think one of my coworkers actually goes out to some lanes near work...but I prefer to actually go out with women. [Wink]

Have you tried "Bowling for Dollars" or Professional Bowling? Big money in both, I'm sure.

Aww, Dman, your so sweet, I did have pics up but my friend made me take them down because she did not want to be exposed. I am fairly self confident, and I consider myself to be a social butterfly, so I really don't know what the problem is. Whoa is me [cry baby]

Hmmmm,

Hitting your 30s and not getting out to go bowling?

I've learned that as many women mature, they don't take their relationships with their bowling partners quite as seriously.

Maybe find a friend who simply enjoys bowling with you -- a "bowling buddy" if you will?

Practice. Learn how to pick up a 7-10 split. Keep your alley polished, your balls dry and make sure those pins are standing straight up.

If you can't find hardwood lanes, you can still roll in the hay.

You may throw a few gutter balls, but if you don't you're not trying hard enough. Just because you throw a gutter ball now and then doesn't mean you're a gutter snipe.

Get to know a few bowling buddies just in case a friend or two develop other interests.

Find enough bowling buddies and you can have your own bowling league.

One thing you should not do is watch the end of "There Will Be Blood" with your prospective bowling buddy. Anybody who is excited about bowling after watching that is not somebody with whom you want to go bowling. Unless you're weird.

Remember: Bowling is the most fun when nobody is keeping score. But it is rewarding when you can roll 12 strikes in a row!

The Colonel is always up for a few rousing frames of bowling. And in case you're interested, he wears some very nice-sized bowling shoes [Wink] .

Hey, there's the phone. Gotta roll.

I remember bowling! Right now I am on a self-imposed no-bowling stretch.

Last time i stopped bowling it turned into a 3 year stretch. Sometimes I wonder if I will break that record.

Soon I will be too busy to have time to care. 40 hr workweek and 9-12 credits at school plus kids.

How about joining a bowling league? match.com, eharmony, craigslist etc

And if everything else fails,or you run out of batteries, you can always get a sharpie and draw a face on your finger. A perfect bowling date everytime.

In all seriousness good luck. The loneliness can be sharp at times. Especially when you remember w men who looked at you with THAT look.

C.P. You crack me up [Applause] I think a "bowling partner" is a good idea, Maybe. I am not letting this dry spell last for long mind you. I am giving myself up until the end of November, so as not to hit the one year mark. See I'm being positive [Big Grin]

Oh brother. You'd go bowling with some random person just to go bowling? And you're lamenting your lack of bowling as if you don't get enough vitamins? Give me a break.

You shouldn't be looking for a bowling partner, but for someone who owns the bowling alley, the concessions, the pro shop, etc. Bowling just for bowling's sake is empty and pointless. You throw a few frames, and it's over; you're left with nothing more than a weird walk thanks to the uncomfortable shoes and sore arms from throwing spares.

But when you marry the owner, you have access to so much more. Not only do you get to go bowling pretty much whenever you want, but you get to have dinner, and go shopping, and learn about running the business, and so much more. Don't sell yourself short, girl. Put your energies into finding the bowling alley owner instead of lamenting your lack of a bowling partner. You'll be so much better off in the long run.

Yeah, like the ability to withhold bowling.

The Bible tells us Jesus went through hell for three days.

He was lucky. He never married. If he had, he could have caught hell for decades.

Let's not forget how today's Christian families are celebrating ownership of the bowling alley:
