The tsumani refuses to sign a contract forbidding him from competing in other events ( like at home in Japan) and therefore is not allowed to compete at Nathans. I think they are simply don't want to loose to him so they made up this contract knowing he wouldn't sign it.
what have we learned todyy kids; If you cannot win , change the rules so that you can.

I'm not even going to check out that article - that competition is thoroughly revolting to me. Not only is it an absolutely disgusting thing to do, but when one things about global hunger...it seems immoral.
