Really makes me proud to think I crawled through a swamp for this kind of pond scum.

What a thrilling prospect! A health insurance industry that is as innovative, and performs as well as the financial sector.

Please correct this, if I'm misrepresenting what you've said:
quote:
The US spends a lot more on health care than other countries for outcomes that are no better and often worse.

Please correct this, if I'm misrepresenting the "facts":
quote:
Medicare is a US government program.
Question: Who is more efficient, government or business?

Don't say government ... you'll just embarrass yourself.

Remember "Congress Gives in on Wiretapping" (forum thread)? The Democrats controlled Congress, but from "your" responses, they did exactly what the Republicans were doing. ( [shake head]   "Liberals" are sooooo gullible.)

Well col panic, it gets even better than the 700 bill, immunity from prosecution and no questions allowed that has been announced earlier.

Nope, that was not evil enough, they had to go one further.

The original bail-out was for institutions headquartered in USA only. Paulson was talking today and it has been increased to foreign banks as well, since they are holding alot of crap also and if they go down it could affect the jobs of thousands of americans.

Moman, if you can, go long on lubricants and depends for the next few years, because your fellow citizens and taxpayers will be needing lots and lots and lots. Perhaps pillows too, so us poor citizens have something to bite on.

What a sad day. Many people i have talked to over the past couple of years thought i was a pessimistic tin-foil freak for even suggesting that housing was in a bubble and it was gonna pop and the financial implosion when it did would be the equivalent to a super-nova. I was not pessimistic enough, and no way no how I ever in amillion years thought uncle sugar would even contemplate such bullshit. damn,

Well, back to the work grindstone, i got deutchebank to bail, and UBS to bail, and all the others lining up to the teat too.

So I was listening to the BBC World Service this evening and they did a quick run-down on the financial situation. After opening up with a comment on how the typically small-government US is using taxpayer's money to bail out large companies (yes, all those words were used) they started playing quotes from the players in last weeks, uh, events. The soundtrack? The Flight of the Valkyries.

I almost pissed myself laughing.

Hi. i am posting a post from a thread on a finance blog i read called calculatedrisk. We have started calling this whole mess the hoopajoop.

Never fear, Jargon decoder man is here. Hoopajoop came from this post by newbie "Penrod and Sam" in the last thread:

The fed has announced that the stock of Goldman Sacks and other choice firms will be convertible to a curious instrument known as a hoopajoop, which follows rules according to an 800 page manual, portions of which have been released, the bulk of which is yet to be written "some time after november." The fed guarantees that this hoopajoop conversion will solve the liquidity/solvency crisis.

Market reaction was mixed because nobody understands what a hoopajoop is, what the implications of a hoopajoop conversion are, and because the few parts of the 800 page manual which were released today involve novel securitization vehicles which are impossible to use for prediction purposes. Market forces are reeling, too absorbed in contemplating this "brave new world" of hoopajoop investment instruments to act. Paulson announced that this was just one of a series of planned maneuvers to confuse the market with bells, whistles, and startling regulatory surprises, just long enough to pass the novemer elections.

And then Volker the Viking suggested...

Anyone that mentions the words "free market" on Capitol Hill should be smacked. Or worse.

## Move that from this point forward any mention of 'free market' be substituted with 'hoopajoop'.

This has been your hoopajoop investment information minute. Continue to go long hoopajoop.

You obviously live in the wrong part of America.

If you lived on an island in Alaska with 49 other people, those 'small government' Republicans would happily spend $400 million on your bridge.

I was thinking of poor Minnesota when I wrote that post. They just elect the wrong Senators in the Midwest, now don't they?
