Who's arming the insurgents in Iraq?
Is it Iran?
Syria?
North Korea?

According to this article, it may be Uncle Sam.

quote:
from TFA:
According to an investigation carried out by the US Government Accountability Office (GOA), the US cannot account for 190,000 weapons issued to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005...

...US commanders often accuse foreign powers, such as Iran, of supplying arms to illegal militias fighting in Iraq, but the report shows they cannot fully account for the hundreds of thousands of weapons they brought in themselves.

Last month, Turkey raised concerns over reports that separatist Kurdish guerrillas launching cross-border raids from northern Iraq had received US-supplied guns supposedly destined for Iraqi security forces.

Do you think that anybody is surprised by this. Now if the iraqi insurgents were using A1 Abrahm Tanks in thier raids, that would be news.

I mean bush blaming someone esle for his misadministration is the current status quo.

It's clearly Christian and Jewish fundamentalists who are arming the Islamic fundamentalists so that they can kill each other.

Some observations and reminders (since most people won't actually read the article):

What were the "hundreds of thousands" of weapons?
quote:
about 110,000 AK-47 assault rifles, (and) 80,000 pistols ... "issued to Iraqi forces."
Although al-Sadr's militia has killed plenty of Iraqis by shooting them "execution-style" (and drilling holes in their heads), bombs are what make the news with large death tolls.

What are the destructive capabilities of assault rifles and pistols?
quote:
US commanders often accuse foreign powers, such as Iran, of supplying arms to illegal militias fighting in Iraq ....
The simple reason for why US commanders are displeased with the "other arms suppliers" is that anti-tank weapons and shaped charge explosives are killing thousands, while AK-47's tend to say "look at me, look at me, I'm a target!"

Rest assured that US commanders are probably not happy about the "theft" of weapons issued to Iraq for its police and security forces from the predominately Shiite government.
quote:
Headline:

US Confirms It Is Arming Sunni Insurgents (June 10, 2007)

Maybe it's a message for the Shiite government, maybe not. I wonder if the Shiites would work harder for peace if US commanders said "in an all-out Iraqi civil war, the Sunnis will win."

Oh please ... that couldn't possibly work.

Mr 65816 believes the deaths of Iraqis are unimportant, as long as they don't make the evening news.

Mr 65816 seems unaware of this article
