Top 100 Fundamentalist Quotes

Some of my favorites:
"Gravity: Doesn't exist. If items of mass had any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it. Of course, that's just the tip of the gravity myth. Think about it. Scientists want us to believe that the sun has a gravitation pull strong enough to keep a planet like neptune or pluto in orbit, but then it's not strong enough to keep the moon in orbit? Why is that? What I believe is going on here is this: These objects in space have yet to receive mans touch, and thus have no sin to weigh them down. This isn't the case for earth, where we see the impact of transfered sin to material objects. The more sin, the heavier something is. "

"No, everyone is born Christian. Only later in life do people choose to stray from Jesus and worship satan instead. Atheists have the greatest "cover" of all, they insist they believe in no god yet most polls done and the latest research indicates that they are actually a different sect of Muslims."

"I appreciate your recommendation, and it is intriguing, but as a pro-lifer, I cannot support an organization that is opposed to the death penalty."

"But God don't talk in Arabic. He talks in a REAL language, namely, English. It's true that back in them days He translated that to some other language after Speaking it in English, but after all, it's His universe and He can do what He doggone well wants to do."

LOLOLOL† I haven't laughed so hard in ages.

(And I posted this here instead of jokes because it's bound to offend someone who will then feel the need to contribute more fundie LOLs so I figured I'd save everyone the trouble...)

Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it. I love this one. Yes, I'm afraid scientists have yet to discover the sun.

My personal faves:

quote:
"Occam's Razor Disagrees" Award

"I am a bit troubled. I believe my son has a girlfriend, because she left a dirty magazine with men in it under his bed."

quote:
[On the Harry Potter books]

"To suggest to any child...that there is a way to escape the unhappy, real life world they live in and to retreat into a mystical fantasy world to find happiness is totally irresponsible and deceitful."

Aha! That explains why I find the chocolate-bacon bars and pig brains in gravy so horrifying. I thought it was good taste on my part, but it's really my Muslim aversion to pork and dairy/meat combinations showing through my delusions of being an atheist.

Looking for the source of these comments, I came upon a post from Garlic Guy! Same website, same footer.

Garlic Guy, are you a crazy rabid conservative that identifies with statements like this one that your namesake was posting agreement to?

"I'm not having sand monkeys or American cretins running my country. You can take that to the bank."

Oh - and I *loved* this one [Big Grin]

I mean, since Atheists have no value whatsoever as human
beings (they're not even human, but only inhuman animals),
since Atheists are nothing but miserable Liars, Cowards
and Murderers, after all, why would anybody in their
right mind weep over the dead rotting corpse, or bone
chips and ashes (that get mixed together with those of
others from the crematory) of a worthless dead Atheist?

Or this?

"What is called 'Science' today and 'scientists' consist of the same old gang of witch doctors, sorcerers, tellers of tales, the 'Priest-Entertainers' for the common people. 'Science' consists of a weird, way-out occult concoction of jibberish theory-theology... nothing good has ever come from 'science' --- In fact, technology is not in any way related to the web of idiotic scientific theory. ALL inventors have been anti-science. The Wright brothers said: "Science theory held us up for years. When we threw out all science, started from experiment and experience, then we invented the airplane." By the way, airplanes all fly level on this Plane earth!

The Fact the Earth is Flat is not my opinion, it is a Proved Fact! While all we need to know is that the Bible says the Earth is flat (Is.40:22, Ez.7:2, Dn.2:35; 4:10-11,20, Mt.4:8)... but for a second can you imagine what these so-called 'scientists would have us believe --- If the earth really was round, that would mean there arre people who are HANGING DOWN, HEAD DOWNWARDS while we are standing head up? But since the theory allows to travel to those parts of the earth where the people are said to hand head downward, and still to fancy ourselves to be heads upwards, and our friends whom we have left behind us to be heads downwards! LOL! What foolishness! TheWHOLE THING IS A MYTH - A DREAM - A DELUSION - and a snare, and, instead of there being any evidence at all in this direction to substantiate this popular theory, it is plain proof that the Earth is Not A Globe!

Also, be sure to know the Sun and Moon are about 3,000 miles away are both 32 miles across. The Planets are 'tiny.' Sun and Moon do Move, earth does NOT move, whirl, spin or gyrate (1 Sam.2:8, 1 Chr.16:30; Job 9:6, 38:4-6; Ps.96:10, 104:5, Is.13:10, Mic.6:2). Australians do NOT hang by their feet under the world... this is a FACT, not a theory! Also a Fact the Spinning, Whirling, Gyrating Ball World Planet, Globe Idea is Entirely 100% now and at all times in the Past, a RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE... a Blind Dogmatic Article of Faith in the Religion for the Blind unreasoning beast of prey. No earthly reason for a Sane, Upright Member of the Elite True Christians to subscribe to it. Also a Fact, today the Elite of Earth ALL live on the Flat World. Only the illogical, unreasoning "herd"... prefers the way-out occult weird theology of the old Greek superstitution earth a spinning ball! Both Copernecious and Newton, the inventors of the "modern" superstitions (400 year OLD modern) have said: "It is not possible for a Sane reasonable person to ever really believe these Theories." Thus sayeth Newton-Copernecious. What sayeth THOU?"

Umm... GarlicGuy's post has a timestamp almost an hour earlier than the post you linked to and I'm pretty sure he's not psychic. How did you come to the conclusion that he was agreeing with that particular post?

The way I read GG's posting, he was commenting on the kitten-torture story, not agreeing with the comment you quoted.

Still, scary site, it surprises me GG hangs out with psychos like that.

Okay, I stopped twitching.

quote:
[about a girl being born with mental disabilities]

This girl is like a leper so what she needs to do is try and find god

if she really believes she can be healed from this state, she will be healed from this state

Most afflictions like this are caused by sins committed while still inside the womb. If she can repent for what she does god will embrace her and make her as human as you or me but if she chooses not to she'll always be like this

god tests every one of us

What. The. Fsck.

How is this even possible?

Oy! How can those people call themselves Christians if they don't even know their Bible? Disabilities are not a result of sin committed by parents* or sin committed in the womb. Proof? Go back to the Source.

*That statement is not entirely true nowadays. Parents who have abused drugs, smoke, or drink heavily during gestation have a greater chance of birthing children with pre-existing addictions, low birth weight, shriveled skin, and other defects.

I think it just shows really how terrible any form of fanaticism can be. I bet you can probably find a place where you get a some PETA freaks talking out their asses with long diatribes on stuff that have no basis in fact also.

It is good to see that Steen and Druid, at least, are thorough enough not to make wild accusations before checking the "facts". My posting there was to clearly decry the condition of a society bereft of moral underpinnings. Thanks Druid. Thanks Steen.

Still, scary site, it surprises me GG hangs out with psychos like that.

It's not much different than hanging out with wackos here. Imagine if someone randomly pulled some the comments by certain posters around here and assumed that such were the 'norm' for this place.

I joined at FreeConservatives about a week ago (month and year and post count show up there in the posters' info) to see if smarminess were as rampant in a conservative environment and if people based their arguments and style on their emotions as much as some do here at GeekCulture.
There is a particular administrator there (at FC) that is entirely pleased with trashing Catholicism and Catholics and is not particularly interested in looking at information that does not appear over his own .sig - a style I have trouble with no matter where it appears. You cannot participate (thus getting into trouble) there without registering - kinda like GC.

I also logged onto a Mormon site (OrneryAmerican) to observe the same phenomenon.

Conclusions:

1)Nutters are where you find them - here, there, everywhere.

2)The Mormons seem much more polite than others - to their credit.

3)If the "civilized" societies on this planet continue in the present vein, we're going to see people continue to treat each other with less and less respect and humanity. It is more alarming to me than any talk of Global Warming, etc.

Liberals and Conservatives are fighting so much they threaten to kill off intelligent discourse.

Thanks for reading.

Nutjobs are indeed everywhere...

There are even one or two likely candidates for that classification here too.

I am sure if one was to dig hard enough most posters here have said something that taken out of context could be construed as offensive.

That said that site definitely seems to have a large number of pretty extreme posters - then again I have occasionally (usually against my better judgement) been drawn to post a reply to loony fringe frothers on some site or other and I have to admit to on the odd occasion "losing it" and posting some vitriol of my own in reply to some troll or other... stupid and pointless I know, it just fuels their sad addiction.

But there are sites I still visit where the "comments" section is normally full of such loons regardless of the actual thrust of the original posting or article - I have just learned to either not bother reading the comments or to vent my spleen at their asinine remarks /at/ the screen rather than on/through it...

Through my personal correspondence with Garlic Guy I think I can safely say that whether or not I agree with all his personal views he is not in the realm of the hate filled loons that seem to infest that site - not by a loooong long way. (Not that I think he can't defend himself... just saying)

The 'net is a strange thing - it is very empowering and allows a free exchange of views for all - trouble is that power is equally available to the reasonable and the lunatic fringe...
