Why anticlimactic? Because I've been around for almost a year, I'm already a superfan, and this marks my 100th post.

But I thought, in honour of my 100th post, I should finally get around to introducing myself. Mostly because macmcseboy harasses me about it whenever we're both on IRC.

So, hi. I'm toobe. I'm the one usually hanging out in that shadowy corner over there. I'm a 24 year old, shy geek guy. I'm also a graphic designer. I currently work for a local agency as their Junior Creative/Production Artist/IT Guy, and operate my own design business in my free time. I read like it's going out of style (it kind of is, too), I listen to folk and jazz (and anything else, but those are my favourite genres), I ride my bike a lot, I love being in/on/near the ocean, I have a cat and I want a dog. I used to game, but haven't been doing much recently... the group I gamed with has a very different schedule than I do at the moment. I'm a Mac dork, and I'd like to start exploring Linux at some point. I'm also a gadget fiend... I'm rarely seen without my cell phone, Palm, iPod, digital camera, and laptop. The rest of my time and energy goes into a love of photography.

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Nice to finally (officially) meet you all. Now, if you need me, my corner is looking lonely...

Well, welcome officially aboard. You seem pretty cool. Now that you're officially here, we can begin the official initiation rituals.

Hi Toobe

I am also a Graphic Designer/PrePress/IT dweeb and Mac fanboi with a touch of Linux fiddling creeping in... HalfVast is too when he shows up occasionally.

My age is double your tens and half your digits but don't let that put you off - I never got past 21 in my own head...

Join in more and more shall be given unto you.

Macs or PCs, Quark or InDesign, Freehand or Illustrator, errrm well that is about all the battle left now isn't it? (and the FH/AI is a gonna soon surely?)

Hey Serenak! Good to find more graphics/prepress dweebs.

Answers: Macs. InDesign. Illustrator.

I know Quirk quite well, and can use it if I have to... but for the most part find InDesign to be superior. Having said that, I started out on Quirk, so I will always have a certain fondness for it. I'm particularly fond of all the colourful words I get to excercise whenever I come upon a Quirk file.

As for FH vs AI, I never got into FreeHand. Went straight to Illustrator, and it's treated me well.

Have you got your hands on CS2 yet? Waddya think of LiveTrace/LivePaint?

Macs, InDesign, Illustrator:

Always hated Quirk and still do (though I can hack away in it if I really have to)- Like you started out on Illustrator and know little else (have tinkered with FH/Canvas/CDR in the past but only on a need to know basis)

Still on CS 1 here... CS2 might get a bypass till CS 3 (next year) goes UB/intel native

Not cause i don't want it... Oh I do.... but commercial sense say you got this far without "needing" it you can hold out

Is CS3 really that close?! That's very exciting.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) I got trigger happy as soon as CS2 came out. My disposable income and I got far too excited and picked it up pretty quick... I really didn't need it, but I really do love it!
