4. Must be a legitimate English word.
5. No words unfit for Scrabble (i.e. proper names etc.)

We didn't allow "nill" which was an old word now obsolete, so I'd guess that a Medieval cooking term wouldn't count either, but that's not my call. I haven't any idea where you found that Website, Spungo 'cause a Google search for zesy turned up a whole bunch of Polish and Eastern European sites. OneLook.com also doesn't recognize the word in any of the dictionaries it searches.

From the homepage of Spungo's site:
quote:
Here is a collection of commonly-used Middle English words & phrases found in surviving medieval cooking manuscripts, with brief modern English translations.
The question now becomes, "Is Middle English legitimate English?" (This game has been educational, that's for sure! [Smile] )

If "zesy" does work, I now have a winning word for the version I'm playing on another board! [Big Grin]

The rules do not state that it must be a legitimate non-Medieval word, do they? Therefore I win, and I claim my magic turnip.

Admit it - I rule. [Smile]

Oh, so now we're allowing words from medieval cook books, but not from the Oxford English Dictionary?

That was my original question, TFD, but since I posted the last unquestioned word, it's not my ruling to make. If you can find "nill" in your OED, then you might be able to argue for the inclusion/acceptance of "besy."

Y'know, there's an OED in the chem office. Too bad it's closed for the weekend and I'm at home. Otherwise I'd go look it up.

Anyways, in case TFD's word is allowed, I submit "busy" as a follow on.

The rules
Start with a 4 letter word.
Change any ONE letter each time to make a new word, e.g. team changes to seam.
You can't mix the letters up, e.g. team changed to meal is not allowed.

1. Post no more than once a page or 24 hours per member, whichever comes first.
2. No repeated words.
3. No curse words.
4. Must be a legitimate English word.
5. No words unfit for Scrabble (i.e. proper names etc.)
6. The person that comes up with a word that no one can change into another word is the winner.

I would have allowed nill since it is in the OED, but nill was invalid since I did silk --> milk before YaYa did sill. No big deal though, it can be used later.

busy --> bust
