My name is John, and I'm a Mac-a-holic.

Used to hang out a lot more at MacAddict forums, but not so much anymore. Looking to branch out, meet some new geeks. I'm 23, have a B.A. in philosophy, and am currently a rowing coach in Amherst, MA.

Fourteen thousand words... (Pictures of me and mine...)

I love this place already.

Hi there and welcome!

I expect many others will follow me in welcoming you...

Liked the photos (esp Elmo and Moose) partly because my daughter has a couple of Elmos too. Laughing "tickle me" Elmo and a really cool "Pretend with Elmo" which does about 10 different animatronic sequences depending on what position you put him in... She has a giggling blue thing (Cookie Monster?) too. Oh yeah, and my Aunt breeds pedigree Westies...

Come on in, settle in and hopefully, like me, find it one of the best corners of the web to hang out.

Hope you like it here and stick around - it is fun here!

hey sumnchai!

Welcome!

This forum is great, as there are a lot of Mac fans, plus lots of other flavours of geeks who really add to the mix.

(Plus it's fun to watch as they are slowly assimilated. [Big Grin] )

Snaggy? As in the REAL Snaggy? Wow. I'm never going to wash my eyeballs again. [crazy] But seriously - love everything here. As soon as I stop being poor and can afford food, there's gonna be a donation.

Serenak: Yeah, that picture is on of my favorites too... That Elmo is some sort of "dancing" one. It's my neice's.

Gah! I spent my whole life perfectly contented without any Apple products whatsoever. After hanging out with "you people", I now own two Macs [with a Mini on the way, making it three] and an iPod. Damn you all!!!1!! [Razz]

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forums sumnchai. [Big Grin]

Hey Stibbons - I agree - not enough rowers out there! I've raced everything from singles to eights, with everything in between. (Though I despised the quad...) Haven't had a chance to do much competitive rowing since I started coaching, which is tough. I still get out in a single pretty regulary, when the river isn't covered with ice.

See you around!

How cold is it where you are?! [Eek!] I'm out tomorrow morning at 7am, don't think we've ever had the river frozen over but its still bloody freezing at that time in the morning, especially for bow pair rowing into the wind (/me rows two) [Frown]

I'm hoping to get into a four before summer, but I just love the power and acceleration you get in an eight, and the fact that its all down to the team spirit for it to work correctly

Right now, it's a comfortable 6F In Amherst, MA. Cold enough for the Connecticut River to be frozen. [Big Grin]

Also cold enough to make me go to the gym instead of going for a run.

And, (Dick Van Patten references aside) eight is enough to water ski!

That was one of my favorite Mythbusters segments ever!

Yes, here we like to call it "Freedom Beef" to keep out any foreign influence. You are free to eat it and you're also free to have your brain slowly eaten by microbes. We're free, you see. We care about things like that.

Oh, and WELCOME! Thanks for sharing the pics. It puts a face behind the pixels and bits. Of course I'm not sharing any of my pics because I'm a rugged individualist raised on capitalist principles. So there.

So if CommanderShroom chips in another $.40 (so effective recently!), you'll post pics? [Wink]
