They claim an accuracy of 50 metres for Australia, and sure enough, they zoomed in on my neighbour's house. Impressive, but not quite good enough to use for guiding those cruise missile.

Still, fairly spooky, I'll have to remember to turn my phone off before going to the next al-qaeda branch meeting.

What's really weird is that it zoomed into our former neighbour, where we used to live.

There must be a time delay on it or something.

So um...I'm not willing to enter my number in there. Is there any chance they're using some underhanded thing to look up billing data? (Erm, on second read, Snaggy's comment seems to strongly suggest that.)

It seems highly unethical and/or illegal to be able to call up such real location info. if you're not a) the carrier, b) 911, or c) an LEO with a warrant.

I also think that calling up the billing data should be the same as the above, but I do know there have been cases where companies social engineered their ways into such info. (Which doesn't make it right, just that it happened.)
