btw. Merkins (and other foreign chappies) can be knighted too. The only difference is that you can't put 'Sir' in front of your name, you become Some Foreign Chappy KBE (Knight of the British Empire) as is Bob Geldof and was Spike Milligan (although everyone calls them Sir Bob and Sir Spike anyway [Smile] )

I am aware of this detail, but my main point is about not being "Sir Foreign Chappy." Rudy Guiliani is Rudolph Guiliani, KBE, not "Sir Rudy." Alan Cox could be knighted, and maybe Linus could be knighted in Finland (I have some faint memory of an monarchy there, but now I'm doubting that). But I will never be able to be titled "Sir [Dragonman's real name concealed [Wink] ]" I recall that episode in the Odd Couple (the TV series), in which Oscar was dating a princess, and she was going to knight him, but ran out of her quota when she knighted some random stranger. Now I guess I have to find a princess;).

I may as well ask at last - what was this thread ever about? I originally thought it meant that we were being offered custom titles as in the way that Snaggy got "Sir Snagalot". It turned out that it was just Superfan titles that you could opt to have, but since I ended up with one anyhow even though I didn't want it and certainly never asked for one, it calls into question of a thread where people request such titles if they all got them anyhow...

So tell me, what was the purpose of this thread?

If you wish, I can bestow upon ye SuperFans a custom title refecting your SuperFandom...
SuperFan
Gold Hearted SuperFan
Solid Nitrozanium SuperFan

The thread is about bestowing upon SuperFans one of three custom titles reflecting SuperFandom. Sorry if I mistakenly thought you wanted the title too.

Some SuperFans don't want custom avatars and/or titles, hence threads where if you want one, let me know. (This thread was started first, as it took longer for me to figure out how to do the custom avatars hack.)

All right, I will take my rightful title, as long as I can have 'Evil AI' tacked on as well [Wink] [Big Grin] .

Yeah, that is originally what I thought these titles were - the chance to call yourself something on the boards. I guess I just felt a bit cheated as I hate being misled over anything or "offered" something I can't have.

The reason why I didn't want a SuperFan title is that I wanted to keep being a SuperFan low-profile, especially my particular SuperFan type. It wasn't to be totally secret, but I didn't want it paraded around on all my posts - I guess I'm just much too self-conscious, and so on, and never comfortable with people knowing about my decisions in that sense.

Of course, with all titles of any kind gone now, to those who saw that I had one before, it looks like I've been punished and stripped of rank, or even for those with more positive mindsets, that I've stopped being a SuperFan.

It's too late to go back, so you may as well put the custom title back on - it looks far less suspicious.

Uillean, this wording strikes me as a bit unfair to Snaggy. His first post in this thread (which he quoted in response to your complaint) was fairly clear and specific as to what he was offering.

If you feel misled, then you probably misled yourself by not looking before you leapt...

You kinda blew that when you chose a custom avatar, didn't you? [Confused]

Well, it was the wording of the title that bothered me most. I won't try to explain my thought processes; my brain needs a reformat and upgrade install anyhow.

True enough, so apologies Snaggy.
