ok about all these abbreviations, what happened to just saying, "hey im a 17 year old male and i live in california. I just got out of a serious relationship and am looking for an interesting person to talk to."

no miscomunication no misunderstanding just a good honest conversation in english.

Wow! Finally someone realises the purpose for which language was invented!

The a/s/l was originally AIMish ((c)Xanthine).

Edit: <randomsidenote>I just realised, theoretically, you can spot a geek because of the way they close their parenthesis... If they close multiple parenthesis with the same number they opened with, they are probably a geek, or have at least some programming experience. I cease my gibbering.</randomsidenote>

Some of the humor in these message boards are very... well, take it lightly. [Big Grin] Maturity level sometimes doesn't match with age. [crazy]

Um, no. A/S/L goes back to IRC, I'm pretty sure. I'd wager a bunch of sickos learned about AOL some time, and brought it over with them to AOL chats. Anyway, that which is (C) Xanthine is "AIM-glish," not "AIMish" (that would be more of a culture).

You're quite right about the parentheses too [Smile] . I think we geeks are also more likely to use square braces as well, although UBB might get a few more people into the habit (I do find it frigteningly sad the some people seem to solely use the cheap JS hack buttons below - use the Source, Luke!).

Hi. I'm a sixteen year old female in Montana who, after having her heart broken a year ago, is ready to start dating again, but would like to not rush into anything serious right off the bat.

No, they're a rather scrawny bunch - all yellow and happy, typical seen running from place to place. Apple is currently appealing to the AIMish people on their website right now: http://www.apple.com/

I have a sad tendency for guys who fall for other guys. This is odd because there aren't many of those in Montana.

I have some very good friends who are those guys. They're always hitting on me. Being the egomaniac that I am, I definitely encourage them. Much to their dismay, I remain steadfastly straight.

I guess their company is right, but if some of them weren't perfect examples of what a man should be it would be easier to be their "just friend". Sexuality is a beautiful and stubborn thing. I got sick of boys about six months ago and tried to tell myself I was a lesbian. Didn't work. A straight person just cannot convince themselves otherwise without strong prescription medication. This is why I laugh whenever my best mate's dad goes off about how being gay is a choice. I've always wanted to ask him when he made the choice to be straight. Not the best of plans, but it would be interesting.

Are you kidding?
All those cowboy hats, and spurs, and Tammy Wynette ..... sounds pretty gay to me.

The Perfect Man is gentle
Never cruel or mean.
He has a beautiful smile,
And keeps his face so clean.
The Perfect Man likes children,
And will raise them by your side.
He will be a good father
As well as a good husband to his bride.
The Perfect Man loves cooking,
cleaning and vaccuuming, too.
He'll do anything in his power
To convey his feelings of love to you.
The Perfect Man is sweet
Writing poetry from your name
He's a best friend to your mother,
And kisses away your pain.
He never has made you cry,
Or battered you in any way.
To hell with this endless poem,

The Perfect Man is gay.
