The now trademark blue letterbox frames the screen. We see a child sitting in a chair in a completely white room. Men and women come into the room and begin to teach the boy on various subjects from plumbing to speaking his mind. A voice-over comes on, something to the effect of, "What he learns, we learn. He is our future." The screen washes out, "Linux."

In my opinion, a powerful commercial, if somewhat over-dramatic.

Has anyone else seen this commercial yet?

You can watch it directly from the IBM site. Amusing when I first saw it... but it gets progressively annoying. For example, what the hell could Mohammed Ali teach teach you? Hit'em hard and then hit'em again? I just thought: poor kid - all these assholes yakking at him all day long. Give'em a break! Where the hell's social services?

I've always liked IBM's products, but I've not seen the commercial yet. They reall do make good hardware despite what many people say. Thinkpads rock!

*nod* I hear they make one with a nice grip on it which makes dumpster diving and war chalking easier... not that I know anything about that...

My favorite IBM hardware to date: the G5.

Your conviction that there is a monster under the bed would be a mere eccentricity if you weren't so heavily armed and it was your own bed.
