I like to score my bananas on the street: five for a dollar, quick check-out, instant satisfaction.

When I give fifty cents to a street bum, I hope that they spend it on fruit. If I were a bum, I would eat a lot of street vendor fruit.

And yakitori. Gaijins love yakitori.

If I had to choose I would pick fruit. I'm not really sure how you would qualify as either. Some people say that a tomato is a fruit. My best guess is that it has something to do with sugar content so you are either chewing on a fruit or a very sweet blade of grass [Smile]

Ding Ding Ding

Your answer is 100% absolutely correct sir. My wife has 4 uncles that are sugar cane farmers. They have taken my son and I a few times in the harvesters. We also been to the factory and watched how it's processed. Really fun and interesting to watch, but the bagass stinks.

Well, you have to admit that your name is rather ambiguous, now isn't it? Not to mention most 'basement dwellers' are male, not often you hear of a female one..

Basement dwelling is a non-gender specific occupation and is an equal opportunity regardless of sex. There is nothing in my double-x chromosones that hampers me in my ability to completely and sufficiently occupy a basement.

The problem with that arises from recently moving to a 3rd floor condo.

. . .But I continue to be a Basement Dweller in spirit . . . and social life.

Is a pomegrante a fruit? Does anyone know any pomegrante stories?

The only pomegranite story I know is the myth about Proserpine going to Hades for six months out of the year. I'm not a very good storyteller, but I'll try.

Demeter and her daughter Proserpine were out picking flowers one day and Hades came up from the underworld and kidnapped Proserpine to make her his queen. While in the underworld Proserpine knew that she must not eat or drink anything or else she would never be able to leave. Meanwhile Demeter was appealing to Zeus to get her daughter back. In the underworld Proserpine was starting to get pretty hungry. Hades wanted to make sure she stayed so he kept putting very nice food and drink in front of her. Then she picked up a pomegranite and it seemed to be the most delicious thing she had ever seen. Besides, what harm could one little taste do? And she ate six seeds. When Demeter finally got there with Zeus to rescure her daughter Hades told them there was nothing they could do, since she had eaten the seeds. Zeus examined the situation for a moment and decided that pomegranite seeds don't really count as either food or drink so she would only have to stay in the underworld one month out of the year for every seed she ate. So for the six months in the year that Proserpine was in the underworld Demeter, the goddess of growth and the harvest, would mourn the loss of her daughter by not allowing things to grow, and in the other six months she rejoiced by allowing new growth. That is why there are seasons.

Yes! I remember that one, but I forgot it was a pomegrante. For some reason I had always imagined Prosepine with a giant and succulent sesame seed bagel in front of her, picking off 6 seeds of it and nibbling on them.

But I guess they didn't have bagels back then.

I didn't say that a female basement dweller is impossible, nor did I say that it was bad, I just said that they are a rare occurance, at least, it's rare you hear of one..
