Please read and send all your prayers out for Nitrozac in the time she needs support the most. [Frown]

Snaggy's Note: I've added Nitrozac's message here, as it will soon be removed from the main page.

Dear Online Family,

On Monday night, July 21st, my father suddenly passed away. This is the most unexpected and horrible event of my life. Around 7:30 in the evening I called my parents for our weekly phone call and had a lovely conversation with my father for 40 minutes or so, ... his last words were, "I feel really good, are you feeling good? Talk to you next week, here's Mom." I was chatting with my mom for about 10 or 15 minutes, and in that time my father suffered a heart attack, and passed away. 15 minutes and my Dad was gone. My mother knows CPR and did everything she possibly could to revive him, the ambulance was there in 5 minutes, but it was just his time to go. I can't believe it, how could it happen so fast, how can this be?

I'm asking all of you to right now, just drop what you're busy doing, and pick up the phone and call your father and tell him you love him, and tell your mom you love her too, your sisters, your brothers. That's one thing you'll never regret you did. If you're upset with your parents, and not talking to them, just do it anyway, you'll never, ever regret that.

We won't be able to update the comic for a while here, I hope you'll understand. Thank you all for your time and patience, I do feel like I have extended family in this little community of ours. Thank you. -- Nitrozac

OMG...That is so horrible, I can't even imagine...
You will most certainly be in my prayers. My sincerest condolences, Nitrozac. [Frown]

Last year I lost both my father and my father-in-law. Truly horrible.

Dear Nitrozac,

Just as you are in the thoughts and prayers of family and friends, it may be comforting to know that you and your mom are also in your dad's thoughts and prayers right now, too. And I'm sure if he could, he would reach out from where he's gone to and hug you both.

I am truly sorry. Please take whatever time and space you need to grieve.

Nitrozac,
I lost my Father 12 years ago, so I truly know how it feels. Please accept my deepest condolences, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need anything, let your extended family know, so we can help as best we can.

All my best wishes,
Bill

Lost my father the same way two years ago. Remember that however hard it is on you, it will be worse on your mother. Take care of her.

I type this with tears in my eyes for you, Nitrozac. I lost my father 8 years ago after a long, painful illness and hospice. Although it doesn't help much, maybe try to take some comfort knowing he didn't suffer?

My dad is still in my thoughts every day, as I'm sure yours will be..how fortunate that you got to speak with him.

You're in my thoughts,

vicki

Nitrozac,
I'm sorry for you loss. I do think you were blessed to have been able to speak to him so soon beforehand, and I hope this will help keep him closer to you. You and your family have my deepest condolences. (I'll also send the presumed condolences of Xanthine, who won't be on the forums for another week now.)

Nitrozac: I'm so sorry to hear this news. I remember the shock when my father-in-law was killed in an accident 15 years ago - you feel numb for a long time. What I learned from that experience is that peoples words of sympathy don't really help. What helps most is the simple act of them hanging around and being with you. We're all here listen when you want to talk.

Nitro,

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your mother and Snaggy will be in my thoughts.

After my mom died 10 years ago, 4 months after having a heart attack and learning she had lung & brain cancer, my dad took up leading a grief/loss counceling group at his church. He learned through teaching that class that this is always the hardest for those who remain, and that while you might not ever get over it, it will get better,

The last time I spoke with my mom was on Mother's Day (though I called her frequently), and she spoke about dad taking her for a drive, and she looked at the birds, and the budding flowers, and the new life of Spring. She had never mentioned such things to me in my (then) 33 years.

Let's do that too. Look at your life, today, and appreciate that you ARE alive, and that you appreciate those around you.

I can't tell you all enough how much your kind words, thoughts, and memories are meaning to Nitro, we are very very moved by your condolences and we both thank you all.

We're just about to leave for Manitoba, where the funeral service is, so we'll be off-line for a bit, but I'm getting the emails together for her to read on the plane, and I just wanted everyone to know how much they and the posts here, have comforted her.
