Bumped into Alanis the other day in the lab - we got into chatting about chemistry, specifically potassium chloride - she said she found it an interesting substance - "I particularly like the covalent bonds", she said. I looked at her oddly and replied "isn't it ionic, don't ya think?"

That actually happened to me when I was tutoring a freshman chemistry student, back in 1996. It was one of those "ionic or covalent" exercises, and, well, you can imagine the details.

My Alanis Morissette joke: did you hear about the Alanis Morissette fan club hot line? It's free to call ... but it costs $25 to get her to hang up and stop calling you back.

She's just the lab tech, not the doctor.

You oughta know better, AI. Oh well. You live, you learn. Let this be your wake up call.

Is that all you really want? Perfect!

Spungo, by the way, you're forgiven. But we see right through you.
