After the recent Joy of Tech bout with Klingon Pain Rituals, I was wondering what Star Trek races/character types my fellow geeks most identify with?

Personally, I've been a Klingon female Ambassador for the past 10 years... and yes I have female bodyguards, and they are very well known in the fandom community as the "Klingon B*tches with Attitude" or KBA. Their motto has always been: "We don't need to carry weapons... our bodies ARE weapons!"

Being a Klingon female is, umm... shall we say... liberating and even empowering! People just don't mess with Klingons as a rule, even short little females like me! I think it definitely has something to do with the cleavage and the attitude though... <wicked grin>

Here is a pic of me in full Klingon mode with actress Robin Curtis, aka Vulcan Saavik.

I think that I do identify with the Klingon as well, most probably end up as a Klingon programmer.

Trouble is that it is lonely in Geneva for a Star Trek fan.

Probably end up assimilated into the Collective anyway.

On some days, I can definitely identify with the Klingon Way. But I don't think I could give myself over to it as fully as you did, JD.

Vulcans are appealing in some ways, but I'm way too emotional for that. And only getting laid once every 7 years? Oh, no. Definitely not.

Ferengi are too narrowly focused. The single-minded pursuit of a goal is not my style, either -- I have a broad range of interests pulling me in many directions at once.

So? I'm a human.

I'd only ever pass as a fribble.

Edit: err - make that a 'Tribble'.

it's a toss-up between the argelians and the organians; both pacifistic races who put as much faith and value in emotion and self-expression as they do in logic.

(these are both original-series races, of course...the argelians seen in the episode "wolf in the fold," the organians in "errand of mercy.")

You could also consider being an Andorian - they're also blue, but they can also kick pretty good a** when they want to... I guess it depends if you're a quiet blue or a tough kinda blue...

I s'pose that I (the Geologic One) would be that weird silicon-based, acid-secreting, anti-mining blob -- "ME NO KILL."

I'll have to rely on one of the friendly neighborhood Trekkies/Trekkers for the name of that particualr species.

Umm... did some research and found it for you...

Horta -- Planet: Janus VI. A highly intelligent silicon-based species capable of tunneling through solid rock like humans are able to walk through air. The Horta is female and lives below the Federation mining facility. Around stardate 3196.1, the Janus VI miners are suddenly attacked repeatedly by this creature, who as it turns out, is merely trying to protect her young. They are unaware that by mining, they were destroying her children, and in fact, the future of the Horta species entirely.

A trill (sp?) of course.

Long life span,

Look at Dax (DS9), if she gets bored of Vulcan men (Worf), there's always the next lifetime.

Plus you'd never be lonely, with your host...

Well, Jade Dragon, cleavage always gets my attention. The question remains... how would Will Riker endure?

As for me, my Klingon like characteristics surfaced recently while in New York City. A cab ran a light, blew his horn, and damned near ran me down while I was crossing the street. I was wearing good solid ass kickin' Kenneth Cole boots and I kicked a big dent in his door for his rudeness. He stopped, and I thought he was gonna get out of his cab. Best that he did not, I would have given him a further taste of those ass kickin' boots.

I think that the Trek species that I most relate to is Commander Data. "I remember every fact I am exposed to, Sir." Data is a natural problem solver, pragmatic in his observations, and a competent lover with unlimited endurance. Once the emotion chip was installed, he became every woman's ideal man. Smart, witty, caring, and good looking... and as to his prowess in the sack, well, he's a machine.
