She can techno-talk and she's a babe, but does she qualify as a TTB? I don't think so.

She's leading the polls as to who's the hottest, leading even perennial favorite Fawn. I was thinking with Brandy's surge in popularity since the last time I remember the "Who's hottest?" question being asked that she might have topped Fawn in the polls, or at least closed the gap some.

But I had to vote honestly, and I picked the Sysadmin. Amazingly, it turns out that most people agreed with me (so far, the numbers might change as more votes come in. But Sysadmin's ahead right now).\

I've asked myself before and never been able to answer. What is it about the evil Sysadmin that I find attractive? She's a lawful-evil if I ever saw one. I know now she's not just misguided. I gave her the benefit of the doubt when she was just manning (er, fluffing?) at the MS Soul Sucking booth, but she's demonstrated herself to be a Bad Girl in no uncertain terms. Why do I like bad girls?

Why do I like bad girls?

It's part of that univeral equation:

Good Girls like Bad Boys
Good Boys like Bad Girls.

I think the Sys Admin's allure comes from the flirty little wave in her hair that covers part of her face. It makes her more mysterious, which in turn makes her more attractive (although I can't say I'm personally turned on by her-- I wouldn't mind being her once in a while... heehee... ). Geeks especially love an enigma.

P.S. Sadly, she has committed the classic evil character mistake-- to leave her victims unattended while they meet their doom. Even though she asked them nicely, I doubt the TTBs will skip this opportunity to attempt their escape.

According to the admittedly non-canonical Secret History of the Courier, the Sys Admin has a somewhat shady past... but is not too far gone for redemption.

Of course, that Secret History also postulates that the Courier is working for the *good* of humanity, as he sees it. Time will tell!

(I think I can change her!)

(note the satire)

Glad you liked it, trouble is, quite a lot of it is close to the truth.

Sniff! Nice to see that you still remember me.

Anyway, watch this space and keep your fingers crossed for me, I might have some good news soon.

Ditto.

SM: There was a part of "The Xenophobe's Guide to the Swiss" that wasn't true? What? You mean you really don't classify your neighbors as the "very untidy countries" and the "less untidy countries"?

No that bit is true, and guess which category our western neighbour is in? (That is France for all you US geography majors out there).
The part that is not true is on page 32, paragraph 6, line 3

Oh, by the way Sainty, did you know that your name is of French origin, as a matter of fact an area in Western France was/is called Saintonge.

Well, "less untidy country" of course. And of course, that means, less untidy country than Switzerland.

BTW, It is Coluche that was saying, about Switzerland's health system, that the only thing that you could catch there is medication.

I knew which category France is in, because there was a map that showed where the "very untidy countries" were located (hint: they speak Latin-based languages there), and where the "less untidy countries" are (They sing the "I Was Not a Nazi Polka" there a lot, at least the older set does).

Alas, I had it through interlibrary loan, and it's been returned. Please quote, or e-mail me.

Of course I knew. Though in this country, we usually spell it "St. Onge" rather than "Saintonge." I've sometimes thought of changing the spelling to "Saintonj" because I get tired of the people who can't figure out how to pronounce it.

"St. Onge" is a relatively rare name in this country, though there is a town of that name in South Dakota, I think. Therefore, when I started to read Mackerel by Moonlight, by former Mass. Gov. William Weld, and found there was a character named "St. Onge" in it, I had to stop. I kept getting distracted by the question of how I got into the novel I'll try it again sometime, it looked pretty funny.

I just finished The Xenophobe's Guide to the Americans, btw. Almost all dead on, except for a few places where the author let her politics get in the way of the facts (and I also think she didn't sufficiently emphasize the regional differences among us USAmericans). Still, over 95% was dead accurate, and LOL funny too.

I await The Xenophobe's Guide to the French, whenever IL gets it to Mpls. I am disappointed to learn, however, that there is no The Xenophobe's Guide to the Canadians. 'Not important enough to make fun of? Now that's insulting!'

Great. Now I've got months of conditioning to unlearn so I can say it right.

How have you been pronouncing it?

BTW, one of my hobbies is collecting misspelling of "St. Onge" on mailing labels. My two favorites are one adressed to "Mrs. Stephen M. St. Onge" that I received before my first marriage, and the offer to sell me a book about the "Stonge" family name in the USA.

I've been pronouncing it "Saint Tongue"... I figured that was the most flattering. I'm sure the TTBs agree....

because shes a BOFH in every way.

You can't not like a BOFH (not likeing them usually leads to injury)

I can forgive her for working for Microshaft because it was obviously just to forward her own agenda... and thats OK.

Believe me, that's a lot closer than many people have done (today, I called a health company to order some filters for my CPAP machine, and they couldn't find my name in their computer, even though I've dealt with them repeatedly in the past. Fortunately, I had the last invoice, with the account number).

I'm not sure what you mean by a "soft g," btw.

Soft G = sounds like a J as in giraffe and generous. Possibly even as in "Onge".

-supaboy

Say, what happens when a herd of giraffes get in each other's way?

Giraffic jam!

Just be thankful I didn't think up a lead-in to Giraffic Park.

So the first part (saint) is prononced with the English prononciation and the second part (onge) like the French prononciation.
