The pumpkin took about 2-3 hours. I didn't have any wood carving tools so I used an exacto blade or two. The uneven light is a result of not having chisels :-)

Also I thinned the pumpkin out from behind because the first iteration didnt show much light. Even right now it probably could use a really bright bulb, not a candle. It's hard to see 6 stories up on my deck :-)

The left eye detail got a little messed up, but I did drill some holes all the way through for the pupil detail!
