Dear Snaggy and Nitrozac,

I didn't know DgitalBill at all, but your very moving tribute made me wish that I did. I can tell that you were as good friends to him as he was to you. Very sorry for your loss and the loss to his family.

Nitrozac and Shaggy, Bill always spoke highly of the two of you. I remember the first time I logged onto your site WAAAYYY back in the '90's, I was simultaneously entertained and puzzled by your work. It's obvious why I was entertained; I was puzzled because sometimes I just missed the point. I'd email Bill for an explanation and then I'd get it.

Thank you both for the tribute to Bill. He is one of the few people I know who was completely without preconceived judgments of other people. He never belittled, spoke down to, nor made fun of your point of view. If he didn't get it, he just didn't get it -- no making you feel stupid for not circling in his orbit. I'm glad you all found him to be a fine person as well. It makes the shock of his absence easier to bear.

Thank you all.

There's a lot of great links over at MacMerc, to people around the web posting about Bill. [Happytears]

Thanks Molly and Double D, it is wonderful to hear from you, and it certainly was an honor knowing your brother.

I knew (of) DigitalBill through GeekCulture, and the Wizards of Technology was the first podcast I ever subscribed to because of it.

I'd just been going through iTunes and making sure all my podcasts were up-to-date before synching my iPod and noticed there hadn't been any new Wizards.

I really enjoyed the Update Wizard for Bill's take on tech news. He was a real hands-on kind of geek, so his opinion counted to me far more than any other news.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Oh no!!!

This is so sad. I bought my first Mac ever through DB's store. He was so excited for me that he was tracking the package and knew it had arrived at my theatre before I did! What a cool, fun, all around good hearted (not to mention fashionable!) geek.

Great comic today, Nitro and Snaggy.

DB, we'll miss you.

Sad news indeed.

A PayPal link has now been setup for those wishing to help Bill's family with the funeral arrangements, (thanks RickMacMerc). You can find it on DB's tribute comic page, just below the comic, or else over on MacMerc.com.

The funds go to the account of David Douthett, Bill's brother. (Should it happen that donations exceed expenses, any overage will be donated to a charity that has been chosen for memorial contributions.)

Thanks folks.

It's so great to hear from Digital Bill's family. I figured he had a close relationship with his family and loved you all very much. I remember his pictures of a family get together by the beach, it was really nice. He sure was a special guy, he was so supportive when I lost my Dad, I'll always remember and be grateful for that.

It sure is painful, isn't it? To have died so young, and without any warnings, it's so hard to sink in. I can't imagine how hard it must be for his family, his Dad, I really think about them a lot. Up here in Canada this weekend is Thanksgiving and I am very thankful to have known him. It's good to slow down, stop, and reflect on how he touched so many people's lives, I hope he knew how much he was loved and appreciated. [Happytears]

Molly and Double D please keep us posted on things like how you're doing, and what his memorial is like, I don't think I'll be able to pay my respects in person, but hopefully I can online, and I know many others would too. My thoughts and prayers and with you and Digital Bill, I hope he's doing a fabulous podcast in the sky. I miss that Great Geek! [weep]

I have made my contribution. I welcome and encourage others to do the same. I do this because Bill is like me in some ways. I help those when I can. No questions asked. Bill has done more than I and I admire him for it. I pray he finds peace.

David and Molly, please let your family know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Bill was actually the person who led me to GC. We knew each other over at Leoville, where he often posted pictures of himself looking fabulous in his utilikilts. I remember when he actually met Patrick and they talked kilts. I am so sorry to hear of his death. It is hard to loose one of the good ones.

I am sad to hear of DB's passing and can only send my wishes to his family.

On top of this, my best friend in Geneva, who was also a Mac enthusiast, a gamer and a really great guy, died from Cancer on sunday, so I must admit that I am feeling very depressed at the moment.
