Online retailer filters customers by Klout score

If you watch 'The History Of NASA' backwards, it's about a space agency that has no manned spaceflight capability, then does low-orbit flights, then lands on the Moon.

It sounds like they got lazy and couldn't be arsed to get a proper list of 'invitees' for an 'invitation only' launch. I think the latter is considered reasonably acceptable these days - it's been used for the launch of *many* services, and has usually built up interest pretty well. (Longtime thanks go to Snaggy, who I'm pretty sure gave me an invite to Gmail.)

Optimistically, I'm hoping enough people take offense at this nonsense and no one else implements this garbage. Odds are that not very many people will 'get' what the problem is, and this simply won't reach as many people as they'd like it to. At the end of the day, it sounds like it's just a friggin' store -- who cares?!

There are three things you can be sure of in life: Death, taxes, and reading about fake illnesses online...

That's not laziness. That's clever marketing.

Jasu is opening an online clothing store, but stores like that are about as common as houseflies. To succeed, they need to get noticed and ads are mostly ignored when they aren't blocked. By doing something like this to generate publicity, they get talked about, linked to and they start showing up in search results. An invitation list wouldn't generate much, if any, publicity because it's been done.

Worst. Celibate. Ever.
