so a hollywood studio is filming Stieg Larson's girl with a dragon tattoo, which if I remember correctly, just cam out five years ago, on film, and it was a damned good film.

What is the problem?,

it foreign so it has to be remade for american audiences, heaven forbid someone try to open a subbed or dubbed movie in america.

The original did get shown in US theaters, though it was a limited release. It didn't do too badly overall (which includes DVD sales and stuff), but if you scroll down to the "weekend gross" figures and compare how much was made by how many theaters, you'll see it wasn't a very good return.

The original was a hit elsewhere, but not in the US, so I would imagine that the thinking is that the basic elements for a box office hit are there and the movie just needs to be "localized" for American audiences.

Personally, I think it'll be crap, but Trent Reznor is doing the soundtrack and I really like the version of Zepplin's "Immigrant Song" that he and Karen O did (you can hear it in the trailer). Reznor is a bit hit or miss, but the one song he did gives me hope that the soundtrack might be worthwhile even if the movie isn't.

Worst. Celibate. Ever.

It seems like it would be hard to screw up a film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's trilogy but one must never underestimate Hollywood..

I don't mind them remaking these films, they are good, but not exactly masterpieces, but it does seem foolish to recast Noomi Rapace. Her Lisbeth Salander was brilliant, the best thing in the Yellow Bird films, and yes she does speak English.

Hot, and really scary.

Lisbeth Salander is just one more traumatic experience and two square meals away from becoming Hannibal Lecter, and Rapace makes her utterly believable.

If you watch 'The History Of NASA' backwards, it's about a space agency that has no manned spaceflight capability, then does low-orbit flights, then lands on the Moon.

It's like remaking Insomnia and setting it in Alaska instead of Norway and remaking Let the Right One In as Let Me In. There's one strike against a film for being foreign, two for being in a foreign language too.

I'm in ur database, makin' moar recordz.
