If the movie "Deliverance" and that castration article has you thinkin', "What's wrong with those people in red states-- outside of voting for Gee-Dubya -- lookie here what their church groups do for recreation ...

For those of you living outside the U.S.A., I lived down there -- it's really like this. This was twice in one day, and that's only what gets reported.

Pastors, preachers, clerics, priests, and other religious people are well, people also. Choosing a particular vocaltion does not make you all of a sudden not human.

THis reminds me of Ol' Wills' "hath not a jew hands, hath not a jew eyes speech" from A Merchant of Venice.

Why wouldn't a pastor avenge himself if wronged?

A couple of reasons spring to mind:

1) "Vengeance is mine" saith the Lord.

or, more sensibly.

2) Turn the other cheek

...perhaps I am setting my sights too high, expecting Christian behaviour from a Pastor? [Wink]

It sounds like the youth minister in the article may have a temper problem. It also could be that he snapped. The kid may have been antagonizing him for a while, or he may have been dealing with some other major issues.

It's not an excuse, but there could be a lot going on that isn't in the article.
