Saw it yesterday, and loved everything about it. Especially Trillian in those geeky glasses... [hearts]

Also, the design of Marvin was... aggrivating to me, heh. Though, the original they used in the TV show made a cameo...

I think a lot of the liberties taken were Douglas Adams'. Hitchhikers changes to suit its medium.

I quite liked Marvin, but I'm not sure how his leg is going to be used as the steel pillar in the Wikkit key. Does that rule out sequels? Or will there be more plot changes?

Actually, does anyone know if they'll be doing the others?

Sorry snupes, didn't mean to cause confusion. The reason I mentioned Hugh Laurie is because, afaik, he was Douglas Adams' original choice for the role. Since I heard that, I had always assumed that it would be him.

ok, so I've finally seen it now. and i have to agree with most everyone else. it was a fun romp, although it might have been more appropriately titled Loosley Based on Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy.

and that damn song could have been cut. i still have it stuck in my head. grrr.

It doesn't look like anything is in the works right now. They had a decent opening weekend in the US ($21.7 million) so as long as interest keeps up and DVD sales go well they may do more. Personally, I don't think they will since DNA was so heavily involved in making this film and he, sadly, isn't around anymore to work on sequels.

Well, you said it, Peebs - if the overall box office receipts and DVD sales are good, they'll do a sequel - with or without DNA. This is Hollywood, after all.

By that time, Marvin's original leg was replaced with a steel pegleg. Like Spungo said, the likeyhood of a sequel is probably directly proprtional to how much money this movie makes for all parties involved.

Did anyone notice that the music playing in the party scene at the beginning of the film was Betty Wright's "Shoorah Shoorah"? Just me then. (I'll just quietly continue with my 'Betty Wright is a forgotten soul Goddess' campaign on me own. ) [Wink]
