Sadly more and more places have disabled this option and now pressing 0 takes you back to the beginning menu or tells you this is not a valid selection
There is no excuse in the world for that. Ever.
If they don't have a good automated system it is excusable. I should not have to be on hold for 15 minutes just to find out the stores hours. Or be on hold for 15 minutes to only be told they are closed and to call back during normal hours. This is the kind of info that should be stated up front on the 1st choice to select. I only push 0 as a last resort if what I'm looking for is not on the menu presented.

Am I not correct in concluding that you're excusing one bad thing to do (making 0 not work to go to a human) because of another? (having a bad automated system)
If a company has both no 0 access, and a bad phone system, they should probably be burned to the ground.
.. or something less tragic.

I think the two of you are at cross purposes. If I'm not mistaken, both of you consider the '0' key as an emergency backup to be a Good Thing (TM), and you've just miscontrued each other's words.
Come on now boys, let's shake and make up .
Edit: I'd just like to add that I did not carelessly use the '0' - I had just gotten completely fed up after I got to the end of a phone tree, with no choices answering my question. But, the person who got my call got me the answer in a short bit, and guess what? I went to the store, and bought the product - they did right by their customer (albeit, who was acting as a proxy for one of his clients).
Edit #2: Heck for that matter, I ended up bringing a friend along with me, and he bought some DDR stuff - doesn't everyone know that Circuit City is the place to be on Sat. night? ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Make up? I never had a problem with him in the first place, nor did I think I was arguing with him.
