Nitrozac and I were out for a kayak paddle yesterday, and she found a coin on the beach. It looked like there was a coat of arms with an elephant and an antelope on one side, and a woman with a shield on the other.

She cleaned it up today and after a bit of googling, I was able to identify it. It's a 1926 Peruvian Seated Libertad Sol.

and as for treasure, it seems to be worth about 99 cents!

Hey...that's pretty cool, though!
I found a penny last night on a NYC street -- which according to the NYT seems pretty lucky as well!

Go back to that beach with a metal detector and shovel, there's bound to be a pirates chest full of them buried there.
