Geeks we have been sitting too long! Last night on 60 Minutes (CBS) there was a segment on UAV's (Unmaned Aerial Vehicles). We have fallen behind, Amazon has many models to choose from, Quadrachopters, Helicopters, and some Fixed wing aircraft. Many under $500. I am looking at one with fixed wings for just flying.

I'm quite confused - are you talking about hoverchairs or what? A UAV that carries a person is inherently not an UAV. (I suppose it's fuzzy if someone skilled is flying you instead, but it's certainly manned one way or another).

I'd simply recommend walking instead. :-) Actually sitting for too long has been found to be bad for one's health, and while I can't quite bring myself to do the whole standing desk thing, I do try to move around more. Walking just for the sake of it is kind of 'meh' to me - I prefer to have some reason to walk somewhere, even if it's a bit contrived. (Clearly I need to walk 2-4 miles in search of a really good bagel for the next morning. [Wink] )

What I was inferring is that we need out door hobbies. Some thing that will get us to a park. Even if it is to play with airborne toys. I f you need some better splain look up Sixty minutes and watch the drones segment.

Ahh...so playing with drones is an excuse to go to the big blue room. I sort of fear that some three letter agency wouldn't care for that extracurricular activity. [Wink] But if that's not an issue, I say all the more power to you. [Big Grin]

Some people have done damn cool stuff with balloons and cameras, mind you. [Big Grin]

If you're going to get a quadracopter (or hexacopter), don't go for one of the cheapies.
I have one of these and it's heaps of fun, on very still days, but it really doesn't cope will anything beyond very light winds.
When I was in Scotland, there was a guy flying a more heavy-duty version (different brand, sorry I forget) near Glencoe, in quite brisk Highland wind, and it coped brilliantly.
So, the extra money will pay off in many more opportunities to use your new toy.

If you watch 'The History Of NASA' backwards, it's about a space agency that has no manned spaceflight capability, then does low-orbit flights, then lands on the Moon.
