What did you all think? It went down pretty well in my house, but seemed as though it might be a bit too british for an International audience.

The cauldron was pretty awesome, and Ken Brannagh hammed it up nicely.

Littlefish. no, no. This is the time for the host City/Country to show off, put their best foot forward.

Apparently it is also time for a sudo politician to walk on his own tongue. Have a good games.

I liked most of it, especially the forging of the rings.

(although I personally think the Industrial Revolution was the Beginning of the End)

Wish there were druids.

nitpick: I felt there was too much cutaway to filmed sequences. Super nitpick: how did the guy phone the girl when she lost her phone????

Paying tribute to the National Health was a brilliant, subversive idea!

bye, the f*ckers at NBC went to commercial during the punk rock part, and went to a Ryan Seacrest interview during the 7/7 tribute. Unforgivable.

Heh...I chuckled [Smile]

Perhaps at some other point I'll get around to seeing more of the opening...but the above will tide me over 'til then. Cheers!

I think they had to cutaway to filmed sequences when they were doing big things with the stage in the stadium. It did interrupt the flow a bit though. I thought the bit when they removed the turf went on a bit too, but they could not really have done it any quicker.
There could have been a bit more balance in the music too. Does it make sense to have a celebration of british pop music and leave out The Smiths?

But this is all nitpicking, and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll enjoy the closing ceremony too.

Disappointed that they dropped the Doctor Who sequence from the ceremony, it seems the athletes took longer than expected to take their positions.
Bloody athletes, they always spoil the Olympics!

Nah, we always spoil everything too, although it would've been fun if they'd had an 18" styrofoam Stonehenge being crushed by a dwarf.

Closing ceremony not as good as the opening, but fun. Looking forward to the paralympics now.

I quite liked Eric Idle's nuns in Union Jack nickers.
