Step into the time machine and let's go back... before the times of Steve Jobs' return to Apple, back when he was meatier, back to 1996, when Steve presented at a Microsoft conference... [Eek!]

So many things are different and so many things are the same.

Ironically, I'll bet the reason why this video isn't getting more attention is because the embedded video is in Microsoft Silverlight. But there are several download formats available.

Wasn't it one year later that he sold NeXT to Apple? I don't remember whether the first "return of Steve" keynote was in 1997 or 1998. Anyone remember? They streamed those live at the Apple regional headquarters at the Infomart in Dallas, and I would take my kids and go watch. Those were exciting times, seeing Apple take a sudden turn for the better, and hearing good press about the company for the first time in a decade. It's been a pretty steady climb upward ever since.
