(Link moved to thread with SPOILERS because the sneaky BBC changed it after the show aired.)

I didn't realize it was the end of the current series. Four specials in 2009, and no more Dr. Who until 2010? That's just... cruel.

And of course they need a new Doctor. If he regenerates, it's just poor form to keep David Tenant.

This series was really excellent snakey. I hope that the new writer has as much originality and daring as Russel T Davies. It's he who is really behind the show's current success.

Steven Moffat has written some of the best acclaimed episodes of the past few years; The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace, and Blink, as well as this year's Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, so I think he'll do quite well. [Wink]

He also wrote a favorite mini-series of mine, "Jekyll," aired in 2007.

Excellent episodes, and most were quite scary.

Moffat seems to like scaring his audience, p'rhaps we'll see a return to the days when Doctor Who was watched between fingers from behind the settee.

"Blink" was fantastic...whenever I happen to think of it, I often end up watching it. Fortunately, it's not that easy to get to ATM, otherwise, I might kill an hour now.

Wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey...spectacular. If that's what we have to look forward to in 2009 (Scratch that...erm...2010?!)...groovy. In the meantime, I look forward to more Torchwood...pretty please?! I think I'll tide things over with a dose of Sarah Jane Adventures - I'd been curious before, but the finale has completely picqued my interest.

P.S. IMHO, the linked article *does* have spoilers.

dragon stole the phrase i had in mind. Allons y then! Dalek was a very good ep, as was The Utopia, The Sound of Drums and Last of The Time Lords saga.

This series has been some of the best writing I have ever seen. I tell you that for next years Hugo nominations, there will be more than a few episodes on the nomination ballot.

I look forward t Torchwood and beyond. Dragon I have sampled some SJA and its not bad. Why is it the Brits write some of the best SciFi? I don't know, but I love it.

Really?

I don't understand the love for RTD. His writing seems weak to me - far too many glib resolutions to problems. Moffats episodes are excellent however.

As for Torchwood, I found it a very annoying show. Everybody on it was irritating. Having said that, I did watch the entire first series, so it did keep me coming back. Maybe the next one will be better. (I have reason to believe it may be)

You're right. The BBC changed it. Seriously.

They updated it at 5 July 2008 20:42 UK, according to their page. It's not even the same title anymore.

WTF.
