My big, final-final, for-all-the-marbles presentation is in about 50 minutes. While not as considerable an undertaking as a doctorate or masters thesis, it still has me suitably psyched out.

Shoot some luck my way, and I'll elaborate on how it went when I get back. ^-^

Though I, too, have no doubts that you will do wonderfully, you have all the luck I have to shoot your way.

BTW: Good to see you, Oz! Stick around, will ya?

Celebration, not yet, but damned close.

The ITS program at my school requires, as a final leg before graduation, a relatively extensive collection of work that is to be submitted physically, then presented and defended before a board of three professors.

My presentation started...rough. Quite rough. The accompanying class for the portfolio did not, in the least, prepare me for the amount of scrutiny my work would be facing, and it seemed, at least to start, like I wouldn't be making it at all. I locked up for a bit, and stared blankly at a wall for about thirty seconds as all the doom sank in.

However, my non-office-application work impressed them, particularly my writing, and in the end it turned out alright. They want to see a new version of a flyer I made (honestly, I spent the least time on the flyer out of everything), and with that, I'll meet the requirements. Much better than simply being turned down!

So, celebration soon, fellow Culturals, very soon. I've got one class and a charity project to round out, and that one flyer (totally using Fireworks or Photoshop instead of Publisher this time), and I'll be home-free, turning in graduation paperwork, and working at a local software outfit.

Wasn't perfect, but could have been a lot worse. Whew.

Hey, congrats!

/me is really glad he didn't have to present his thesis.

I wrote a good paper on it, and I think the work spoke for itself, so I'm still happy about it. [Smile]

Going to be in Faiak for at least until August, if not November. Depends on my rate of saving, and my resume needing some padding in the form of a job I don't lose before six months are out.

The show still goes on, 1-3ish AM, www.ksua.net, for at least one more show, perhaps two. I have until the 30th to submit a new show proposal, and I'm hesitant on the basis of my work schedule--I should just go for it and reschedule if needed.

Oh yeah, that's right... 5-8AM Eastern time. I knew there was a reason I'd never heard it, though I always wanted to. [ohwell] Maybe I'll drag myself out of bed early next Sunday morning... or figure out how to get my computer to record it for me.. yeah.. that's a better idea! [Smile]

So, what do you want as a prezzie for doing so well?

As I don't normally check the GC in the morning, I missed out on all the suspense. Congratulations, Oz! [Applause] I don't miss those oral presentations.

EDIT: BTW What is your radio show about?

Well done! It's fun to play for keeps, isn't it? [Razz]

I remember defending my honors thesis. It wasn't that bad really.

My qualifiers, OTOH... [Eek!] [Eek!] But I passed without conditionals, so that's a good thing.

And that reminds me, I need to schedule a committee meeting next month so we can talk about graduation dates and why I won't be defending next year. :/

There are guys around. Any thread can turn into sex if there are guys around. [evil]

(Well, maybe it would too if there were only girls, but it would take a bit longer. Can we settle for it's human nature?)
