It took 25 minutes which afterwords i came out of the store with the biggest grin because i had finally convinced my dad to buy the sharp aqous 42 inch 1080 p lcd tv for x-mas.

So hopefully before the end of the year there will be a nice new tv replacing the 27 inch 8 year old tube.

Total aside...

Anyone wonder how Xmas came to be written like that?

I have been told that in the deep past + was a cross and X was a criss so X mas is "criss mas" - not sure I 100% believe that but it makes a certain amount of sense...

Anyone got any more in depth knowledge? I would be interested to hear either further proof or a decent rebuttal of this theory.

I have heard that the X in Xmas stands for the cross. I think however Xmas came into use because people are lazy [email protected][email protected]$.

"X" seems to be a common fill-in letter. Xmas for Christmas, Xtians for Christians, xtal for crystal, rxn for reaction...it goes on and on. Maybe because X isn't used so often in normal English.

I didn't realize the usage dated back to the sixteenth century, but I was aware that the X was a Greek Chi. It's not an unusual shortand in theological circles. (superfan forum, sorry)

Yes whats wrong with being a lazy bastard.

aside: you have just said the X word twice so does that mean you are a double lazy bastard?
