I came across this article about Darren Aronofsky's new film Fountain, which should be released (in the USA, anyway) on the 22nd of November.

I'm hugely excited, because I'm a really big fan of his (I loved Requiem for a Dream and Pi), and I know a few of you guys are too. This new film is a sci-fi space thing, so it should be suitably geeky for everyone here.

That article's a good read; it talks about his filmmaking process, as well as some of the cool techniques he uses to show space. Here's the coolest part: he uses no CGI at all. This is awesome. You should really read about it, it's all to do with filming particles in a fluid at a tiny scale - they use the example of curry powder to show thousands of meteors flying towards the camera. How cool is that?

I can't wait!

Any Aronofsky fans here? Anyone gonna offer to take their Mac into a wifi-equipped cinema and use iChat to let me see it without having to wait to come over here? [Wink]

I haven't seen his previous work, but this one sounds pretty interesting. I found a trailer for it that solidifies my interest. Some of the effects are indeed impressive.

Sorry I don't have a MacBook with iSight handy to sneak into the thater for you max [Frown]

Wow... great find UMC. I didn't even think to check for a trailer.

It's very different to how I imagined - more Middle-Earthy, less spacey. But it still looks awesome.
