I'm going to be heading up to the Seattle area this weekend for a one week vacation. While we're there we thought we'd spend some time in Victoria, BC but we didn't realize it was such a long drive. [blush] So since we're still in the cancellation window for our hotel we thought we'd cancel a couple of the nights in Bremerton and book them in Victoria.

So...

Does anyone know a good place to stay up in Victoria or some things I absolutely must see on my trip?

cool! There's ferries from Seatle to Victoria, in case you don't want to drive. Or you could do a loop, up into Canada, over to Victoria, then cross over to Port Angeles. That would be nice.

I like Beacon Hill Park, nice view of the Olympic Mountains there.
The Royal BC museum has some great Native art and totems.

Make sure you have afternoon tea at the Empress. [Smile]

and not to far from the downtown, you can go to this Apple store and see an honest to goodness Mac geek. His name is macmcseboy, and he's mostly harmless. [Big Grin]

Orcas island is Great, if you like the nature thing. It is in pugit sound and there is a state park on the island. Bring your lunch of you are doing a day trip as things on the island tend to be expensive. I forget where the ferry for the island leaves from but it is just north of seatle.

We'll be in Victoria the afternoon of the 19th, all day on the 20th, and maybe part of the 21st. We'll be in Bremerton and the Seattle area on the evening of the 16th, the 17th, the 21st, the 22nd, and the morning of the 23rd. My mom has an interview with Microsoft on the 18th so we're probably going to to be in the Redmond area then.

I am totally up for a moot. If you want to discuss contact numbers and meet up times or anything just email or p/m me. [Big Grin]

I have no idea what these are like to stay at, but this & this are both in houses that my were originally built for my great grandfather, so if you are anywhere near there and can take a quick snoop at either, I'd be fascinated to find out more about them.

I must visit BC myself one day.

I absolutely love B&Bs. Unfortunately, I've had trouble finding ones that are okay with bringing children under 6.

Some good places to go have already been covered... I'd have to also add Buxton Green, and a trip or two on the Harbour Ferries (aka water cockroaches). Tea at the Empress has become ridiculously overpriced, but you can get an afternoon tea just down the street at the Gatsby Mansion for a bit cheaper.

If you're near the inner harbour and see a pink heritage building (the old customs house), look up to the top floor and wave. That's where I work. [Razz]
