I've decided to share; she called it off and well, I'm a single man again.

Jace - I'm sorry to hear that.

I hope you are ok. [Frown]

That sucks.

I recommend large quantities of Jack Daniel's or Jagermeister.

Take solace in the fact that if she ended it, it's better that way.

Oh, ouch. As another recently engaged person, I can imagine how much it would hurt to have your betrothed call off your wedding. I would be absolutely heartbroken.

My only advice (not that you asked for any, but it's here if you want it): Give yourself time to grieve.

/me thinks of Jace....

Hahaha...grieving time. [Razz]

Why do I think he's finding creative ways to use up his newfound free time? [Wink]

Seriously though...sorry to hear about it. Oh well, 'tis far better that it ended now.

Thanks for everything.

After much consideration, and many a drinks, I have come to the understanding that it is better that it happened now.

Despite the fact that I wouldn't usually let something like this get to me, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

She did it in person. At her graduation from her Combat Training. I had to leave before I seriously hurt her. I left before I could get the ring back. Probably better that I did leave when I did because though I dont condone hitting a woman, she is a marine first [Wink]

bummer. [Frown]

My condolences Jace, sorry it's not working out like you'd hoped. Take some solace in the knowledge that you are not alone, that the same thing has happened to many a fine man throughout the ages. Moi included.

The good news is that you are young and studly, and there's a lots more TTBs out there in the Sea of Humanity.

Sorry to hear that, Jace. Yeah, the violence against women, yeah, that's not so good. Why would you even consider you might seriously hurt her? To get to that extreme point so quickly in the moment of getting rejected, I think is a giant red flag that is hitting you over the head that you need some help. Seriously. Nothing wrong with getting help! Think of it as an unbiased friend you pay to listen to your rantings who won't tell anyone.

One good thing tho, the timing is pretty good, you've got the whole summer ahead of you as a free agent, how cool is that? [Big Grin]

Side note: Snaggy, When were you engaged and then had it called off???!!!!

Jace,

The way I understand it, a Marine can't make Master Sergeant unless he/she has at least a dozen of these under his/her belt.

Bourbon, Booker's straight up, and keep them coming.

Bummer man.

At least she had the integrity to do it face-to-face.

The urge to hurt her is the urge of a basic marine to another marine. I treat female marines and male marines the same. I see no gender in uniform.

Any other circumstances and I would not have even considered it. It would have never entered my mind but over the past two years working with male and female marines has caused me to see in this way. It works for my advantage normally, not here.

I left before she could give the ring back.

Jace, my commisserations on what is truly a farked-up situation. If I were a bartender, I'd say you need to get real drunk, real quick, so I'd make you a concoction I learned about from a friend from Kentucky: a "Dick-in-the-Dirt." Eight shots vodka, one shot grenadine... [Eek!]

(I had a longer comment to zesovietrussian's comment here, but I elided it in the interests of keeping the topic focused where it needs to be.)

Erbo, slowly but surely you're going to come to terms with zesovietrussian's sense of humor.

Thank you Xanthine.

For the slow ones: If the marines have this intense urge to hurt each other, they're essentially doing their enemy's job, hence no need for the enemy.

We do it to keep each other in line. When one marines does something stupid you will have another right on top of his ass, usually an equal or the next in rank. You usually want the equal there and not the next in the chain.
