Uhm.... my birthday is on Thursday the 26th. But, thanks anyway for the early wishes.... this gives everyone time to go out and get me sumthin'! [Big Grin]

PS: Thanks ajm for the SuperFandom! I don't know what to say... [blush]

PPS: for anyone looking for that extra-special unique gift... I'd like to have the recording/performance rights to "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)" for a project I have brewing over at my web site (see link in my .sig).

Edit: thanks dMan for the link help! [Big Grin]

Happy early birthday, Kris!!

How ancient are you now? [Wink]

EDIT: I've tried twice now to fix that link, but it refuses to stay fixed. Weird!

Okay, I tried more than twice. I give up now.

I'll be... uh.... 24 on the 26th. Is that right? 2006-1982=24... damn!!

The link is fuggered up, I think it's the %27 in it, which translates to an apostrophe.. I tried a bunch of times before I finally gave up.

I could have sworn you said it was the 24th. I suppose I could go back and check my IRC logs, but I'm too lazy for that. [Wink]

Anyway, happy birthday two days early. [Big Grin]

Rhonwyyn: Just throw the whole thing inside two [url] tags - trying to get UBB to deal with it otherwise probably won't be worth the effort. (or just use snipurl)

i.e.
code:
[url]http://www.google.com[/url]

You mean, just do the link, not the name of the link? In that case, we wouldn't even need the url tags 'cause UBB automatically links URLs.

How does snipurl work? I've seen you use it, but have never figured out how it works.

Where're the pretty pictures so popular a few months ago for celebrating birthdays? (And no, I'm not referring to the pinups!)

Visit this page: http://snipurl.com/
...and follow the instructions. [Razz]

Seriously, it's very easy to use. Take one long address, like the one you cited...paste it into the box, and click "Snip URL." It will return back something like this: http://snipurl.com/lwjr (and if you repeat the experiment it'll say that it's already been snipped, and give you the same URL).

Then...you could use /that/ URL in the more traditional hyperlink style. i.e. [a href='http://snipurl.com/research_tool']A helpful resource[/a] (sorry, I'm old school, use UBB instead on these boards [Razz] ).

Why use <url></url> tags? Easy...because UBB tends to burp on 'difficult' URLs (ones that don't point to a simple path and/or HTML file) when 'autolinking.'

P.S. I'm deliberately toggling between symbols that UBB wants to interpret - I really do know the correct way to write these things. [Wink]

As a fan of Lewis Carroll

/me sings to MMKK:

"A very merry unBirthday to you"

/me stops the singing

(to the approval of all)

Happy Birthday Kris! I'm going to go the brewery this afternoon and hoist a pint of St. Arnold's Ale in your honor. That should prepare me for the real celebration tomorrow.

I don't know what I was thinking... it seemed like a good idea at the time.
