Next Saturday I'm moving, yay!

We've spent two and a half years living in the cheapest place we could find and now we finally get to upgrade. Our old apartment is a 470 square foot studio, in a part of town that is ok in daylight, but a bit seedy after dark. The new place is about 1000 feet from where Josh works (yay, I get to see him at lunch and I don't have to worry about him missing dinner), walking distance to: the bank, the grocery store, the laundromat, the drugstore, the bookstore, two coffee shops, restaurants, clothing stores, the bus line to the hospital and college, and BART. We may never use the car again.

The apartment itself is much cooler, too. It is about 200 square feet bigger, has overhead lighting, marble counters (instead of the painted wood things we've got now), an actual window in the bathroom, huge closets, and a gorgeous view. And the neighborhood and school district are so much better.

I am so excited I can hardly wait! [Big Grin] Anyone want to come out and help me move? I'll buy the pizza. [Razz]

By the way, Kaitlin is two months old today. They grow up so fast. [Happytears]

Congrats [Big Grin] . I wish I got to move into something bigger. At the moment I'm stuck in a dorm room about the size of a shoebox. . . and I have to share it with a room mate.

Hmm... next Saturday would be the 17th, right? As long as I'm home Sunday morning, I could actually do that (instead of going to NYC). You're in Michigan, IIRC. How long would that take to drive from PA?

Bloody 'ell. Too bad it's not California, PA. I could drive there in under four hours.

Hope moving day is fun and mostly painless, Peebs! [Big Grin]

My Dad is living in MI right now. Easy mistake. I'm just North of Berkeley in CA, myself. [Smile]

Whew! After much work we're in the new place. Sorry for not posting sooner. There was some mix up in the phone lines, so we didn't even have a phon until yesterday and just got internet access this morning.

I've still got to get some of the smaller things from our old apartment and on Saturday we get to clean it up. We're still figuring out where everything goes in the new place, but I love it already.

Now to go catch up on what I missed. [Smile]

I'm disappointed in myself for not noticing the initial thread.

Congrats on the new place! The work involved in making them just so is a PITA (as I'm not even close to being done myself), but in the end, it's definitely worth it.

Congrats on the new place, and condolences on having been through one of lifes major pains in the proverbial, moving house. The little bundle of joy must have been quite a complicating factor.

Actually Kaitlin was pretty good through the whole thing. I just felt a bit useless since I taking care of the baby and supervising rather than doing any actual moving. She's taken it all rather well actually, and apart from a bit of a stuffy nose (quite normal this time of year) she is her normal, happy self.

The neighbors around here have been wonderful. It's great not to have people looking at you like you have two heads when you introduce yourself. There are a bunch of other kids in the building, too. This is an 8 unit building, in unit 2 there is a one year old, 3 has a 5 year old, 4 has a 13 year old, and 5 has a 19 month old. I'm told there is a baby in unit 7 also, but I haven't met them yet.
