Well actually they are Bernard Pivot's, but I never heard of Pivot before Lipton. [Smile] I did leave out the curse word question. You can just swear at your computer sometime.

Should I write the questions on blue index cards?? LOL

1.What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word?

2. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? What turns you off?

3. What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate?

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

1.What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word?
Ardillo
Probably not appropriate for the forums

Something challenging that doesn't provide a simple knee-jerk satisfaction
Obviously manipulative images and phrases

3. What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate?
Geese honking in the morning
Motorcycles without mufflers accelerating

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?
Physicist/Philosopher
Corporate CEO

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

1.What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word?
My favorite: hard to tell. There are so many that sounds great, are very poetic or have good memories or feeling attached that I couldn't say. (It's even harder for me to think of an English word!)
My least favorite: even harder, as the pool is smaller - many bad or negative words can be used in positive way. And the "English" commentary still stands.
Note: the French word "minijupe" looks always strange to me. The 'ij' combination just looks alien.

2. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? What turns you off?
A spectacular view always gives me a taste of the universe (ok, not well worded, but you get the idea). Oh, and great music.
People disparaging others, especially if they obviously made no attempt to understand the other's position, cools me down.

3. What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate?
I love: Does music counts? If not, I like... wind blowing on a hot day, thunder, and many others.
I hate: loud muffler noises, especially when with thumping noise from a cranked up stereo; that usually denote someone who has no respect for people around.

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?
I would like: journalism, graphic artist, and just about anything that involves voyages.
I would hate: dirty, hard, mundane jobs. Farming would be a good example.

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Congratulation! You made a high score!"

"So, were you a cheese-maker, or involved in the general manufacture of any dairy product?"

For a computer programmer, it's a mite odd for me to say the other profession I have a real interest in is car mechanics. :S

1.What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word?
My favorite word would have to be "bagel," there's just something fun about saying it. Least favorite would probably be "exercise," because while I don't mind getting it, I always misspell it.

2. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? What turns you off?
Zombies, mischief, mayhem, booze, and my loony friends all turn me on to create (I do like to make short films), and boredom's my biggest creative turnoff.

3. What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate?
I love the sound of ambulance sirens...I hate the sound of TV static.

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?
I'd like to go back to being a bike courier, or maybe do video editing for something bigger than I'm playing with now. I couldn't work in sales, though.

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Welcome to Valhalla. The keg's over there."

Minijupe? Sounds like a direct ripoff of the short English though..

If it were more "francophone" wouldn't.. court-jupe make more sense or something?

Mini is just as common a prefix in French as in English. In English, there are long skirts, mid-lenght skirts, short skirts, and then, there are mini-skirts. It's the same in French. And English-speaking countries being, on average, more prude than latin ones, chances are the word originated in French before being adapted in English...* (And, by the way, "jupe" is a feminine word, so it is rather "jupe courte" - while it is still longer than a mini!)

* After a quick Google search, one of the rare sites that weren't pornography mentioned it was André Courrèges who first presented mini-skirts in a fashion collection in 1965, although the British Mary Quant also gets mention for inventing (or popularizing, depending of the site) the miniskirt.

.. I always learned "BAGS" for whether or not you put the adjective on the left or right side of the noun. Wouldn't it then be courte jupe instead of jupe courte?

I realise I'm just being silly now..

And my bad on the masculine/feminine distinction. I'm still working on my french.. although it has gotten exponentially better since moving to Ottawa. I'll probably take conversational french classes at algonquin in the fall.

1.What is your favorite word? What is your least favorite word?
Favourite: 'whipplescrumptious'
Least Favourite: words like 'metalanguage' and 'television', i.e. hybrid words of both Ancient Greek and Latin origins. That really irks me...

2. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? What turns you off?
My friends and family, and the people around me are the biggest positive influence on me. Actually, it's often the people around me who have the opposite effect, too.

3. What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate?
Love the sound of birdsong (cheesy, I know) and strings in pop songs. Hate the sound of fire alarms, oven timers and all alarm and warning sounds in general. Oh, yes, and the telephone ringing in the middle of the night... that is a terrible, scary sound.

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?
Well, I haven't got a profession yet, so we'll see how it goes. But I think I missed the boat on becoming a concert pianist, and I'd love to do that. I would hate to be a soldier.

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Don't worry, kid, you get to see everyone again." After that, I'd like Him to tell me a really crappy joke. I'd like God to have a sense of humour, but I think it would weird me out if he was a comic (not comedic [Wink] ) genius.

I like clapping (narcissist [Big Grin] ). I absolutely hate that high pitched whining electronics make sometimes.

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do?

I would love to be Prime Minister (I intend to be an academic). The profession I would hate the most would be being a business person because I know i have the talent but just the thought of it crushes my spirit.

5. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Sorry Jordan! Satan is in another castle.

Favourite swearword: Henry Kissinger eg "I'll hit you in your Henry Kissinger if you don't shut up".

1.What is your favorite word?
Defenestrate.

What is your least favorite word?
"like" when used, like, all the time, like, without having meaning, like, you know what I mean?

2. What turns you on creatively,
Other's creative deeds. When I see something that is close to something I thought of but never took the time to create. I get stired up by it, being awed by the final product and that pushes me to do something new... To go beyond what I was thinking.

spiritually
Spirtual places. I don't think of churches as spirtual places, as the energy in a church is brought there and taken away from it. I see them as stone buildings, nothing more. I don't think there are "holy places" for all places are places of the "devine." But, there are places that have more energy, places that have spooks about and places where the devine hand can still be seen (natural places (hill tops and forests and rivers) as well as places where creation happens (concert halls and art studios)).

Creativity. The best definition I've heard for magick (with 'k', not the stuff of David Coperfeild) is "the creative programming of energy for a purpose." I see lots of people treat the act of creation too casually. It's exciting. Music, art, programming, philosphy, prayer and the like are all magickal acts (there is also casted magick, but most people have the wrong ideas about what this means). To see or hear the creation taking place (the act more then the product (which is the great thing about live music/thearter is that a big part of them happen at the same time) is very powerful.

or emotionally?
Depends on what I am feeling, and what toy mean by being "turned on emotionally."

What turns you off?
People. I don't mean any person in spesific, but the populace at large in large places where there is "group think", hurds of people standing in lines that they aren't sure where they are going. It always drives home the fact that most people today think that fun and enjoyment is found at the bottom of a bottle or somewhere else extrenal to themselves. It makes me realize that we humans aren't as smart as we have the potential to be, and most of us aren't trying to reach our potential but get a meaningless job (which we inexerably come to hate) that puts food on the table for a family that we don't get to see often enough... Or are studying to get a job that puts food on the table because we someday want to be able to support a family which we won't be able to see enough. Why don't more people find work doing stuff they enjoy? Or at least learn to make the best of a job they don't? Sorry, for the job tangent there, I'm currently seeking employment (not as activly as I should) and I have a few things comming up in that regard (interview comming up, and need to talk to a friend about the company he works for), and I'm thinking "this might be fun," and then I talk to someone else and they begin talking about "the day from hell" they just had... I don't mind doing things that I'm not intrested in, if it'll open the door to bigger and better; but, I don't want to start telling war stories everynight.

3. What sound or noise do you love?
Beethoven 5, Ride of the Valkeries, Dvorak's Cello concerto, anything played by Hillary Hahn, except the Bach Violin Concerto in A min.

What sound or noise do you hate?
Bach Violin Concerto in A min. The jury peice that I played the year I was forced to change majors.

4. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I don't ahve a profession, but I'm heading that way.

What profession would you not like to do?
Teach, sing, concert violinist or a half a million other things.

5. If Heaven exists,
There is something alongs the lines of heaven.

what would you like to hear God say
I don't think the deity "talks" in the traditional sense. But, I'll anaswer the hypothetical anyway.

when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"It was a mistake, wake up and go back to your life."
