I said I'd get this thing out of my browser, didn't I? Thanks, uilleann, for HTTP Werkzeug, which I've now learned, works under Linux with WINE ^_~ . By proxying my browser to HTTP Werkzeug's Capture Window, I actually got this thing to finally complete the POST action, and then just resorted to a *true one-liner* to make this whole thing readable :-D.
/me can hear Xanthine, 1800 miles away, groaning at the fact that I kept at this stupid little thing, some 24 hours later... ^_~
code:
[dragon@tux-laptop txt]$ perl -e 'use strict;use URI::Escape;open MYFILE, "gc-post-delayed.txt";while(<MYFILE>){y/[+]/[ ]/;print uri_unescape($_)}'
Quoth Xanthine: Dude, I just realized I won't be single this Valentine's Day. Too bad it's not a good weekend for the dragon to come a-calling. I'm not sure what I'll do/get. Maybe I'll write him a silly story or something. I have made a similar nice realization. And I'm also kind of glad to learn that we don't have Monday off for President's Day - that would have been way too good a thing to pass up, and I would have been thrown for a loop - given such timing, I could take a freakin' 5 day weekend, if I so desired. I heard a radio ad for a heart-shaped ruby necklace. The best way to express your love, the announcer said. My first thought was that if [i]anyone[/] bought me a heart-shaped ruby I'd very promptly shove it up their ass. If someone wants to spend that kind of money on me, we can go on a nice vacation or something. Big glittery rocks just don't do it for me. Then you probably wouldn't want to see the engagement ring my friend's fiancee got her...in the platinum setting and all [he's got a little bit of money ]. And for all that, she tells me she's starting to get cold feet about the whole matter. Maybe it would have been smarter to have taken all that money, and used it to put off moving back until she got her degree, so she would be away from her fiancee for ~7 months...money, but not happiness, perhaps? P.S. Yeah, a vacation would probably be a better use of money - or a new computer . *Kidding*!!!
As for Valentine's Day itself, well, it's kinda like Halloween. It started out as something sorta meaningful and then got warped into a commerical fest. Enjoy if you like pink. Frankly, I prefer Halloween. At least then I get to dress up like a lunatic. Lunatic? I rather love and adore my fairy princess labrat . code:
[dragon@tux-laptop txt]$
Edit: Code tags merely placed around the header and footer code, to prevent the horrific line wrap that first occurred...sorry about that.

AHHH! Tenacity, thy name is dragon!
Did you hear me scream again when I saw GMx's little thing? That's the second time my face has been photoshopped onto someone else's body in the last month. I'm trying to decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing (I'm not offended - I know that putting apic in my profile made me fair game; I'm just amused and a bit bemused)... ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

My Valentines will be spent in the same way as Spungo's. Except maybe 'Fletchettes' would be a better word. With really big capacitors. That way I could "spread the cheer" while still in a fetal position under my desk.
On May day I like to go to parks and explain to kids the meaning of the revolution.

Hmm, right now, I'm thinking I'll be spending Valentine's Day with my little robotic doggie, trying to teach it tricks. If I'm feeling sufficiently fickle, I'll try and teach it to waltz (of course, I'll have to reteach myself while I'm at it [I have the foggiest memory of it in my head now, but Google can tell me what I need to know] ).

Last Valentine's day I wasn't single, but the 3 before that I was. This year is back to single again. I somewhat agree with addiew - Valentine's day sucks in a relationship. But at least when you are single you don't have to politely choke on the overwhelming letdown of yet another broken promise. A good thing to keep in mind for those bemoaning their singleness. =P
Any holiday is only commercial if you let it be. I much prefer to just exchange cards and plan time spent together doing something special. (Yeah - I have a moderately sappy side. But really I like to have the cards because I have found it therapuetic to destroy them in a fit of bitterness when I have failed at yet another relationship. =)
On the other hand, I have some friends that despair due to their constant single state, so I send them cards just so they know I love them and won't feel so bad.
So, this Valentine's day I will probably be sitting around in #joyoftech on irc.slashnet.org feeling overwhelmingly relieved to be free again.

Being single for Valentine's hasn't bothered me the last two years. Being in a relationship on V-day wasn't so bad the first year. The second, well, that whole second year sucked.
Just tune out all the media crap. There's ups and downs to being in a relatioship, and there's ups and downs to being single.

Ooh.... dman has an avatar now! But your "one-liner" is still a bit too wide for those of us who like our web browser windows to be a nice, sane, readable width.

I'm bloody curious to know how you noticed the different avatar? I'd been thinking about it for awhile, and last night asked Snaggy to make it my own, with shades of skylar.
Oh well, I concede I have ways of getting around the long line thing - it fits perfectly on any screen I use [and they're all set to 1024x768]. Oh, wait, I'm sorry, it is just a little long on my 80 column links screen, but other than that, it fits fine for me . I realized a slightly more portable way to do it - I could probably actually just accept <STDIN>, and pipe it from `echo` or `cat`, although the net effect on the length of the line would not change . That was a fun exercise, though .

Hate to be the banana in the tailpipe of the moroseness of the thread, but I'm going to be spending a very nice day with WinterSolstice. Probably fencing. As in putting up a fence, not passing stolen goods. He'll probably make me something. Give me lots of hugs. Let me know that I'm special and important to him.
And I'll do the same for him. It's funny -- I am terrible at giving gifts to Winter, just as he can't keep a surprise. Well, except the one year I bought him a top-of-the-line TacX trainer. Though I told him early, because I was afraid of getting him something he didn't like. One Valentine's Day, I bought him a black silk shirt. He used to have one (before we met), and one day, when he was on a date, the girl decided to go all "cinema romance" and rip off his shirt whilst trying to be impassioned. He left after collecting the buttons. But the shirt I got him to replace it was more Goodfellas than what he'd had; it was not only not the shirt he missed, it was simply 100% not his style. It doesn't mean I won't try again, though. So I used it.
Usually, I simply say "sure" when he asks for something around an event. I think I might actually go out of my way and purchase something this year for him. Something he wants. Something I know he wants.
(No, not the Moonspell CD, hon. Unless I accidentally trip over it).

It *is* the same. It's just been reserved for me only (i.e. it's been saved to [~]avatars/dragonman97.gif), so that other people won't be able to use the dragon as their avatar as well. Someday I might actually make/find/choose a really unique avatar for myself, but as I said yesterday while giving tech. support to an art student, "I'm a programmer, not an artist."

Because I have Javascript turned OFF (completely off), I don't see the avatars that are presented only by Javascript code -- which is all of the "standard" ones on this site. I only see the ones that are presented in standard HTML, which includes all of the custom ones.
So to me, it's not "a different avatar" -- it's one that never, ever appeared on my screen before. That makes it a bit hard to miss.

Ahhh...cool . Well, right now, I'm using links to see the forums, as I often do, so I don't see any of those new fangled pictures that you speak of, and other times, I don't seem for other reasons - but I decided to almost make the move for other people, so there's no confusion about whose post the avatar is compared with. These days, when I use GUI browsers, namely MozillaFirebird, my main distinguishing setting is to only view images from the current domain - not so much to block ads, but so that I can safely look at the HTML content present in spam messages I'm reviewing at work - I don't need to get caught by a clear-GIF, and receive even *more* spam (albeit, they're not /my/ accounts, but there's no good reason to encourage spam).
