This is the most innovative thing announced during the keynote, and (to me anyway) the only surprise. Apple seems to be trying to do for music software what iMovie did for digital video. But will it have much of an audience? I am not any kind of musician, so I don't think it's aimed at me. On the other hand I never thought iMovie was for me, and now most of my family (including me) have used it with much enjoyment. In the keynote Steve Jobs claimed that 1/2 of all US families have a musician. Is he right? How many of you are excited by this new iApp?

But it has amp simulation so you can plug in your guitar and play. It also has instrument samples so you can plug in a keyboard, play and record.

Don't know if the $99 one they're selling has a full 88 (I'm too lazy to check right now), but it does have weighted keys! I'm going to wait a while til I get my balance down, then I'll get one. [Smile]

Does weighted imply pressure sensitive as well? My keyboard at home has pressure sensitive, but not weighted keys, weighted would be better. As would having the full 88 keys [Big Grin]

Apparently not weighted, but velocity sensitive. [Frown] 49 keys.

We ordered it immediately after the keynote. This is the app I have been waiting for! So far, I've been playing with Audacity, but I'm perfectly willing to pay for an Apple-designed alternative that has a nicer interface and better integration with peripherals.

I plan to put my songs online, but more as a pracice reference and not as something to listen to recreationally. I want to post my songs for other people to play, sing, and enjoy - I'll include lyrics and guitar chords.

If I had an Apple computer, I would really want to get it. But since I do not have a mac and I dont have any money I guess ill just have to stick with what im using now. Oh and im sure at least 1/2 of families have a musician, just not a good musician.
