So if we plug the above two quotes into the original joke and add a Neo Con, the answer should be something like:

BANGITTY BANG! BANG!

Right? [Razz]

Let me demonstrate here: Grummash simply expresses his disagreement and confusion over your view of the original joke as racist, and you respond by telling him there's no point in arguing with him because he's backwards. I've gotten similar responses when disagreeing with you before. My point is, you're making inferences about a person's entire political philosophy with very little actual information.

To be honest, it just has annoyed me a bit when I have tried to bring up alternate viewpoints and got patronized. I'm not even Republican.

I don't want to debate the war again either, I only brought it up to show the factual and logical basis of the views I hold. However don't imagine for one second that the war is a dead issue, or that your governments continued arrogant treatment of the rest of the world does not continue to annoy the rest of us mightily.

I answered the criticism ChildR gave. While the joke may not be overtly racist it is implicit in it, it is the subtext of the joke. This is clearly arguable and you and the other bigots (hah! just a joke..) are free to disagree.

That's funny, because the same exact thing can be said for the left in USA politics. They believe that they can better educate your children than you, find better ways to spend your money, and of course they should be the ones to tell you who and what to vote for.
The thing is- no matter what side a politician chooses, he is still first and foremost a politician (by definition "part of the intelligent elite who believes that without these lies your society will fall apart"). He wouldn't be in the business unless he thought that he was better at making decisions for the public than the public is, regardless of which side of the fence he resides on.

And, Callipygous, I asked you to stop calling me out of name. I tried to be polite, but apparently you aren't mature enough to honor and respect a simple request like that. Unless you want me to come up with a few colorful names to call you, I suggest you refer to me by either "ChildeRoland" or "Roland," though I suppose either Sir or Your Highness would also be acceptable [Wink] .

I was sad to not see the other political parties represented in this. I know its just a joke, but it does show how black and white America can be. It is the whole "well if you arent this, then you must be this" thing. just my mini rant. I am a libretarian by the way. I like to think of it as "progressive republican WITH common sense."

CR - do you seriously really want me to rip that last post apart? I challenge you to justify the statements in that last post without resorting to material from lunatics and street corner ranters. I was talking about mainstream politics and the ideas influencing some of the most powerful men in your administration. I also found your justification for politicians as a necessarily superior class just plain weird, and if you place any worth in this thing democracy, there is no place for any political philosophy which condones lying.

C'mon CR, you're just talking stupid now. You ask me for some respect, well put a little thought into what you post. Or maybe you are just trolling...

To me the "Libertarian" party is a big scam devised by the ultra right wing big business sector. The "personal freedom" is a ploy to keep the hippies pacified with legal drugs in addition to being able to kill off all the "lower" classes with heroin. Reminds me of the line in The Godfather where there's the big mob meeting and one of the dons says they'll keep the drug dealing to the people of darker colors because they have no souls.

In the end, the "libertarian" party is an elitist, social darwinist, anti-humanist organization. It is materialistic, amoral and degenerate.

Not to begin a flame-war with anti-Libertarians. I just have a few points to make for myself.

1. While I have taken and enjoyed a few controlled subtances. It by no means I am a degenerate. Nor am I useless and wish to be drug fiend. I, for one, am tired of the money spent on our war on drugs that has yet to produce any real results. Drugs are a part of our landscape and whether it is under the attack of our gov't or not, they will continue to be in our society.

2. The last time I checked I am neither an elitist nor am I a white businessman. I am pretty much a blue collar hick kid that spent his entire childhood around people with the things I have yet to ever get. And I watch my money at every paycheck go to some Republican or Democratic fund to buy something that I will never see or use.

3. I am anti-war. I believe that in many ways we should pull back to our own borders and mind our own business. I don't believe that 9-11 would have happened if we had learned years ago that some people just want to do what they want to do. But unfortunately the two major parties, and the hidden agendas that both of them have, has put the neck of our own people on the line too many times. And the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are just the most recent.

I for one am a Libertarian because I feel the government has screwed up enough. And while all the beliefs are not to my liking in the party, I agree to more of their ideals than any other party.

/me bows out and goes to IRC.

That would depend on the consequences of the lie being uncovered, Grummash. Maybe if I thought a little bit harder, I could think of a circumstance where the lie might be more favorable, but, generally speaking, it does more good to present the truth and deal with it than it does to lie and deny.

Xanth, you are of course quite right morally speaking - but lying can fit in with the idea of Utilitarianism, and you could have a democracy run on Utilitarian principles... I just wanted to flag up that Callipygous was stating a personal opinion as thought it was a provable fact

***Disclaimer - do not read if language bothers you***

I delurk to bring you this rant.

<rant>

Why the fuck can't we keep content in the Joke Bank joke related? Someone may comment that that's just the way GCers are, but seriously, it's downright sad if we can't keep the kind of shit going back and forth above out of a thread that is supposed to bring humor and enjoyment.

Calli, you don't think the joke is funny? that's fine, just don't burden the rest of us with your dark lack of humour. I've really enjoyed most of your posts in the past and this just surprises me.

I don't understand why the hell people seem to turn everything freaking thread into a fucking political mess. It turns GC into a very unpleasant place to be. Ultimately, only a few are responsible for causing this constant degradation, and destroying the wonderful sense of community this place once was.

There's a reason I refrain from posting much these days, and that reason is summed up above. I still love this place, we just need to clean things up a bit.

Oh, and I'M NOT YELLING!!! [Razz]
