I think that's really a YMMV thing.
Mind you, I'm a New Yorker, so some people just think I'm rude regardless of how I am. ![[Wink]](wink.gif) [We're just direct, that's all! ![[Smile]](smile.gif) ]
I've known /very nice/ people who have a bit of money, and utter jerks with a similar wallet. The same can go for people who have been raised well or not so well. I think the latter was an influence in a consultant I worked with for awhile, but other people who want better things for themselves tend to try and treat people well.

Everyone has their own reasons, valid or not, for being rude or polite.
Compare a rich snob, a white supremacist, a person with Tourrette's syndrome and a person telling dead baby jokes within earshot of a woman who recently had a miscarriage; each one is rude, but each in a different way and for very different reasons.

There's deliberately rude, and accidentally rude.
Accidentally rude is often the result of poor social skills, or being from a society with different social norms.
Deliberately rude is usually a result of being an arrogant arsehole. This is often 'inherited' (i.e. learned) from parents, Ask any teacher, they'll tell you the really obnoxious kid in class usually has equally obnoxious parents.
