We are trying to set it up where my Printer is Usable by a iBook my dad is using Connected by a TRENDnet Router TEW-452BRP.

Both macs are running Panther. It does connect him to the internet, But I can not see the laptop from my machine nor can he see me.

I am guessing there is some simple control I need to use but I do not know witch one that is.

The main goal is for him to print using my printer

What do you mean by, "But I can not see the laptop from my machine nor can he see me"?

Printer sharing has been pretty robust since 10.2. It should work if you enable printer sharing in the Sharing preference pane, and then make the printer shared in the Print and Fax pane (on the computer that's connected to the printer). Panther was quite a while ago but I think that's the process.

If they can't see each other, you should get them closer together. It may be that they are too far away...

OK in all seriousness. A few things to look for. There are some options for file and print sharing all over in the System Preferences in OS X. IIRC, there should be something in the Network panel and of course the Sharing panel.

Those will be the main areas to check. You want to make sure you have your system set up for printer sharing also.

But, my personal opinion is to shit can the idea of sharing the printer while it is plugged into your system and by a cheap-o print server box that is compatible with your printer. That way it can just take a central location.

This makes it easier for everyone you want to access the printer physically, and if it is in your room, could help avoid possible embarrassing moments. Things like animal porn and a stack of veggies while your roommate comes in for their biology paper.... [blush] [blush] [blush]
